As I said I could live with the trade. The double down part just shows me he isn't a good GM. Not that I rally needed that to show it - hello it's me 2050
It will compound even more when he overpays for a forward this offseason.

Doesn’t he lead the league in blocked shots?
He’s 7th in the league in hits.
I’d like to give him (and the rest of the team) a fighting chance with a good coaching staff from the start and not this jumbled mess with an incompetent interim coach thrown in the middle. Wishful thinking I know - black_francis
Weren't we told AV was a great coach? Took TWO DIFFERENT TEAMS to the finals and all that |

Guarantee it's someone like Evan Rodrigues, too. Cashing in on a big season during a contract year. 4 years $20 million, I can see it now |

Yes I fully expect a solid player to be paid like a star. Though they really do not have the cap room. So moves will need to be made.

If you like big RH Finnish defensemen who can hit and block shots, they could've had Jani Hakanpaa for $4 million cheaper |

Here's a colorful, easy to read, easy to understand chart that compares Sanheim's results in mins with Ristolainen vs mins with other partners (current to March 10):
green=better, red=worse
xG for % = even strength expected goals +/-
Goals for % = actual even strength goal +/- - Tomahawk
This is interesting. But I don’t think seeker is that much better than RR. I’m same with provie as he is lower in a category.
He is here though. Nothing we can do about it. |

While i agree, and I still don’t think Fletcher is a competent GM, I believe the powers that be pressure Chuck (as well as past GMs) to make a big splash. Would it have been smarter? Absolutely. Does Comcast and the higher ups wanna see smart moves? Hell no, they want to see aggressive moves that show you wanna win now.
We are so franked as an org if this is how we make roster decisions. I’m not ready to give up on Risto just yet and I’m not even saying I love the trade/signing but I do understand how and why it happened which is another disgusting rabbit hole to go down with this org |

It's not really about Seeler or Provorov individually. More so about that last column that shows Sanheim's numbers in total AWAY from Ristolainen. |

I don’t even like Risto that much but some of you are acting as though Chuck signed him to play top minutes against the leagues best as a 1A. - black_francis
Choose a player. Any player. Now start names his flaws, the honest ones at first. Than day after day, become more animated and Exaggerate their flaws to the point that those flaws are the single greatest reason why this team is no good.
When people are calling for Laczynski to be called up to replace Zac MacEwan because it’s believed Laczynski can put up points and kill penalties at the NHL level, we have much bigger problems. There is no way any AHLer is gonna be called up and be given Significant role on the team, no matter how bad we are. |

No question. It wasn't even the Risto trade that did it for me, it was the complete mmisuse of assets that led to it. They could've kept Gostisbehere and all the assets used to give him up and to trade for Risto and maybe I'd be more confident about the direction of the team. Hell, they could've used some of those assets to go after Tarasenko, who was available and ended up having a pretty good bounce back season. |

I've been searchin' low and high
I won't get to get what I'm after
Till the day I die
I asked Bobby Dylan
I asked the Beatles
I asked Timothy Leary
But he couldn't help me either

Well we traded Voracek for Atkinson, which was a salary dump. We also dumped Ghost, Myers, Hagg and Patrick, which sees us bring in Ellis and Ristolainen. So it’s clear money needed to be moved around.
Personally, I didn’t see anyone she’d a tear when Ghost was moved until people saw his point totals in Arizona. I’m still not shedding tears over him. |

You are misinterpreting that chart. It's not that Seeler is better. He is better when paired with Sanheim, and better than Risto when paired with Sanheim (though note that there is an obvious small sample bias there).

Respectfully, Lacycnski was annually discussed as a potential Hobey Baker candidate every year following his freshman year. He CAN kill penalties, make plays, score and not be a defensive liability (not saying Mac is). Injuries have hampered him but leadership should be finding every way they can to get him back into a NHL lineup to see what we really have. |

Didn't shed a tear either, but I'd much rather have Ghost, a 1st and 2 2nds rather than Risto. I don't even care about his point totals in Arizona.
And even though Voracek for Atkinson did shed some salary, we got the longer contract by a year. I also think that's why the powerplay suffered greatly this year. It certainly missed the skillsets of Voracek and Ghost. |

The key though is really to look at the total time spent away from Ristolainen. Still a smaller sample but a more significant chunk of time. |

The GM miscalculated. With the Atkinson deal, it filled a hole but also created a hole. Which is okay if you fill the hole created by other means. Which Fetcher failed to do. |

What if one of the big moves chuck wants to make is trading up for the #1 pick? That could be a big win, id rather that than johnny G for $9M
