I have Leafs with 111 to 113 poits, they play the Bruins in the final game of the season and it is possible the game will be to determine home ice in the first round. - winsix
I doubt the Leafs go 14-5 over the final 19. I'd bloody love it. I think the addition of Gio and Blackwell may help more than just the minor needle move it would appear to be (this is me harping on the same old crap - but by setting established roles for the appropriate players, you get much more out of the team than by having players perform roles they are not good at, or at least not good at yet) - but I don't know if I see a .737 winning percentage to polish off the season.

It's already a rule. Simulation is a card-able offense.
The ref didn't see it that way last night. And they couldn't go to VAR to check.
From a football guys perspective. Kaye is twat for doing what he did. He walked 20' at the guy to give him the shoulder ...the guy flopped. Give them both a yellow for being (frank) twats and you get the same result.
Hopefully the guy gets reprimanded/fined for the simulation.
This is a systemic problem with latin-american football. Easily the worst globally. It happens everywhere but most euro leagues and the MLS have it under control. And guys get big fines and suspensions for simulation now.
Non-soccer types hate it but in most of the big leagues it's no different then watching a hockey player or an NBA player cry foul. |

Yeah, I have no problem with kicking Kaye out (which, for the record, was a yellow, not a red...leading to a red).
But the dive should have been a yellow.

As a casual observer, soccer contiues to be a really corrupt sports enterprise. The FIFA scandal a few years back solved nothing. The faking repels me from this sport. The officiating is disgraceful.

There were at least 10 CR players that were squirming around on the field during the match. Not one of them had to leave the game due to injury. It's sickening really.

They have 19 games remaining left that breakout as:
5 against playoff teams at home (where they have a .607 pts %)
3 against playoff teams away (where they have a .433 pts %)
7 against non-playoff teams at home (where they have a .917 pts %)
4 against non-playoff teams away (where they have a .778 pts %)
If you put that all together, it amounts to 28 more points over 19 games. - Monkeypunk
I’m sure they’ll get better but there’s a big difference between their overall record and their recent record. Since February 1 they’ve beaten a playoff team once. They’re sliding right now |

It was so frustrating. Kaye went down from the tackle (which should have been called a foul) but play went on ...the camera had him for a few seconds and he was female doging from the ground. I knew he was going to do something stupid (I've done it before too) and as the camera panned away from him I just sat their watching and waiting. 10 seconds later the whistle blows ...(frank), I knew he had done something stupid.
It was like a Marchand move. Baits you in so you get the retaliation penalty. Stooopid.
Anyway - they're a "lock" and should hammer Jamaica on Sunday. Jamaica's missing a handful of big names. |

No denying the scandals and corruption in soccer and sport more generally. Before Lebron and the big$$ players took over the NBA it was in pretty tight with the mob/gambling community.
Where there is $$$ their will always be corruption. Olympics ...etc.
I think if you picked a good euro based club/team and watched regularly the "faking" would be less of an issue. It's a huge issue and the bigger leagues have really clamped down. |
