Very odd to spend so much time comparing d partners. Not sure of the relevance.

Who is better… who gives a fyck.

They both suck. Case closed 🤯

Hayes is starting to take control of this team.
- Just5

He is so good at protecting the puck, if he can continue to get his skating on track he makes the Flyers a much better possession team.

I think they are both flawed, but I think we are stuck with them for the foreseeable future. As a 2nd pairing however, I think you can win with them as a pair.

This has been O'Brien's issue since his freshman year at Providence. When he is healthy he is a really good player, and I think he can be a Scott Laughton type of player, maybe with a higher offensive upside. But its all moot if O'Brien can't stay on the ice. It makes sense that the Flyers do not commit to him until he can show he can stay on the ice for an entire season. There is still hope, but its not looking good right now. Its does not get any easier physically in the AHL or the NHL. To be fair to Hextall look at the players drafted after O'Brien in the first round, are any of these players lighting it up in the NHL right now? So I think it was a weak draft overall and thus Hextall took a shot, can't fault him for that.
- jd250

How do you know the Flyers didn't want to sign him and he said he wants to go back to college?

He had it easy in prep school hockey from the physical end. Then since then he seems to have been injured a lot as he body maybe just wasn't conditioned enough to handle that type of grind and physical play.

Doesn't matter who was drafted after him. Right now he looks more of a bust than NHL player.

Maybe the EV metrics say overall Sanheim is a better defenseman than Risto, but check out the Blues first goal last night on the PP and watch Sanheim specifically. Then ask yourself especially when shorthanded, why are both Flyers defenseman in the same corner? Last night both players were a +3, but Risto had a better corsi and a better relative corsi.
- jd250

Not excusing Sanheim, but the question should be- why all 4 Flyers were on the same side of the rink

Actually from what I hear from Bill he like Risto. But I think you are on to something, I should reach out to Risto and get some money :-)
- jd250

He has plenty since he has been stealing so much money for the past 6 years.

Happy for him, is he just a journeyman AHLer who is getting a shot? I like his size and skating

One player is a solid player that if he sees more ice time in certain situations could be really good. The other player is a perpetual mediocre player prone to mistakes that makes no impact on winning, We're only "stuck" with one of them.

Joel has the potential to be a 1st line winger. Do you mess with that by trying him at center?

Do you think playing him a few games at center means he will forget how to play wing?

I think it helps him.

Do you honestly think JVR cared? I think Farabee was just being nice, in fact too nice. The goal is to ice the game, not make sure everyone's feelings are ok.
- jd250
Not really. I'm just spewing more hate in JVR's direction cause I don't want him here next year. I agree, Farabee almost looked embarrassed to score that goal. Eff that! It's to put the game away....fire that thing at 100 MPH right to the top corner!!

Brent Flahr alluded to O'Brien's status the last time he was a guest on Flyers daily with Jason M. Brent was overviewing all the prospects in the system and when it came to O'Brien, he joked that O'Brien has been ducking him because every time he goes to see him play he has unfortunately been out of the lineup. I don't believe the Flyers have been able to truly evaluate him yet and thus he will have his senior year to show that he can stay on the ice and what he can do. I suppose anything is possible in terms of what O'Brien wants, but talking to a few folks with some knowledge, they have not heard anything from his camp that points to him not wanting to sign with the Flyers.

I have 100% confidence that JVR will not be on this team next year, either he will be traded or bought out. It will be addition by JVR's subtraction.

Why mess with a good thing that works already. I do not trust the flyers development team.

It may alter how he plays wing. May have him thinking more than he needs to. Pros and cons to trying it. I could see if he was floundering at wing a a little. To me I leave him where he is at on the wing

Do you think the Flyers will trade Sanheim before they trade Provorov? To be honest I think Sanheim has proven to be better this season. Still don't understand why Sanheim is not seeing PP time but instead Yandle still out there. York has looked great on the PP BTW.

I really like Farabee, he reminds me so much of Bill Barber in that you can put him out there in any situation and he will do very well.

I can't disagree with you, but bad for the Flyers that its becoming yet another wasted 1st round pick. Can't expect a franchise to survive like this.
