Connor Brown over the last 5 games has been super, he might not be getting rewarded with points, but man, his play really starts the Sens transition game and he's so hard on puck, so smart. If Ottawa cant keep him past next years NHL trade deadline, he will be a huge loss.

If you had to choose between Batherson or Tkachuk in the shootout I know I wouldn't be picking Tkachuk because I'd prefer the skill guy. I'd take Brown over Tkachuk.

DJ has Ottawa playing not to lose again in the 3rd period as they hang onto a lead. This coach does this all the time, in almost 3 years nothing has changed. We are now mid 3rd period and only 2 SOG for Ottawa this period, all because he has them playing safe hockey....ugh!

Oh you nailed it. Low percentage shots, but he takes ill advised shots on the net when nothing is there. It's easily one of his biggest criticisms from hockey analysts. He throws the puck at the net, first chance he gets, rather than initiating and dictating the play.

I was watching this game thinking to myself, I should've bet Ottawa, then I saw another mental coaching error and though, thank goodness I didn't play this game as DJ Smith is good for a few screw ups every game.

Definitely one of the better overtimes I've watched this year. I'm sure games would be decided more often than not if they went 10 minutes, rather than the skills contest to end the game.

What NHL coach doesn't take skill in a shootout. DJ Smith must've been confused with the shootout thinking it was a grit/hit other players shootout lol. The guy is a fool.

I agree with the mishandling of Gus the Bus. I'd do a rotation system with him and Forsberg to finish the year with the games pretty much meaningless. Get Gus some consistency and Forsberg some rest. Seems like a win-win to me, even if the results end up being loses.

You know I never thought to check out DJ's pro hockey career. NHL - 45 games played, 1G, 1A, 57 PIM. In the AHL , 387 games played, 37G, 93A, *1016 PIM*.

They say there's no place for goons anymore in today's hockey, but who thought it would extend to the bench? I've never seen somebody chew gum so aggressively my entire life.
