You know I never thought to check out DJ's pro hockey career. NHL - 45 games played, 1G, 1A, 57 PIM. In the AHL , 387 games played, 37G, 93A, *1016 PIM*.
They say there's no place for goons anymore in today's hockey, but who thought it would extend to the bench? I've never seen somebody chew gum so aggressively my entire life. - Bartacus
Well that explains a lot. |

Sens played up to the level of their competition, got great goaltending, got outcoached in the 3rd period and found a way to lose. No, you didn't miss much. This coming from a bettor, not a fan of the team, which is why it's so hard to try to wager on this team.

surprising, also, Sens called up Sogaard and sent Gus back to Bellville - Mithos
Interesting since Kevin called out management yesterday with regards to Gustavsson.

I was there, fun game, big crowd. I have beside me Anton kids and wife and the row front of me. Giroux family - Crosside
Same.
Closest thing to to a pre pandemic atmosphere I’ve experienced.
Right from the anthem girl, who was totally feeling it, to the silly games and in house entertainment. 17k people I think?
Great night. Great entertainment.
Silly coach. Listen. I love Watson. But he’s a role guy. And his role isn’t high speed checking with third line minutes. Ennis looked great. And agree with the other poster about Brown. He’s playing with great pace. Good lord Forsberg looked good. |

Yup it's unreal how this coach, actually gift wraps goals for the opposing team with his lineup decisions. Zaitsev was a trainwreck last night, he didn't have to ice the puck on the tying goal, then Stutzle gets stuck out there for the faceoff with Giroux. No sympathy for a fool of a coach who inflicts stupidity upon himself.
Ennis was great last night, noticeable every shift! Forsberg terrific! Glad you had a great time last night!

This coaching staff has treated Gus horribly and that's why I wrote the piece I did, 2 sources from inside the org said they had to be called out on the mismanagement of Gus. Then low and behold, hmmm.....the next day after my piece he gets sent down. Coincidence, nope!

Yes, the gum chewing, hands in his pockets, drinking water, eye squinting, rubbing his nose constantly.....the guy is a clown! The stuff you hear about what other coaches think of him is comical! He has no respect among his peers. |

Connor Brown has been super these last few weeks, you know what you get with him every night. He might not show up on the scoresheet but he logs the minutes every night of any forward on this team!

Sanderson signs!

Great to see it happen so quickly. I wonder if Kleven signs. With a month left ni the season, it would be nice to see Sanderson grab a few games if his hand has healed properly by then. |

His energy is terrific every shift, the chances he creates off the rush and in fact, he starts the transition a lot too. I don't know what Ottawa will do if they have to move him at the deadline next year. You don't replace a guy like that from within or from your pool of prospects. He's the ultimate professional in my eyes. |

surprising, also, Sens called up Sogaard and sent Gus back to Bellville - Mithos
I wasn't around earlier to respond to this one. When I read this on my Twitter feed my first thought was how interesting that this happens after Kevin wrote his piece here. I sincerely say that because it's widely known how Gus has been treated horribly by this coaching staff. They have screwed with him on the mental side too.
Now watch this ridiculous head coach set it up perfectly to have Sogaard start against a weak opponent at home with Detroit next Sunday or on the road. They never set it up like that for Gus, just look back. I remember back on Dec. 7 how everyone said you let Forsberg ride the hot streak of 3 straight wins plus the team was off 4 days after the Islanders game. Nope, instead they set up Gus for failure and this way if he loses they can say we will go back to Forsberg. Well they lost that game and the team had no legs that game playing 4 in 6 nights so naturally Gus got no support.
This coaching staff, I'm telling you have really messed with Gus and props to you Kevin for calling them out. My neighbor has been in the front office for years in Ottawa and the stories about Gus's treatment is revolting. This jerk coach screwing with prospects the way he has, it's remarkable he still has a job. I will message you on Twitter in your IM's and we can exchange stories. Good on your part for exposing this joke of a coaching staff that belongs in the minors. |

Oh the women in our lives lol as they say. I just finished capping the games for tomorrow night and taking a peak ahead to Tuesday. I gotta feeling NSH imposes their will on Ottawa in NSH and win big. So he missed one of the better games Ottawa has played lately, sucks to be you.

He's already heard from a few GM's for lying about stuff from the Dadonov trade! - Kevin Francis
With no discipline from the league, I wonder if the "rep" amongst other NHL GM's will take a hit to force Eugene to make some kind of move. You have to have a GM that other teams want to talk to. If no one trusts ya, no one will deal with ya. However, that may inadvertently be a good thing considering Dorion's trade record? |

What makes me wonder about the Gustavsson situation is how weird it was that this organization ran pushed for Marcus Hogburg for so long while he was mediocre pretty much his entire AHL and NHL career. Gustavsson seemed poised to have a similar opportunity and had a more promising outlook but for some reason just got screwed out of development. |

Well said, there is a lot going on behind closed doors. Plenty of stuff that I'm talking about with other media folks and NHL personnel/scouts. I'm telling you all, when I can write some of it, you'll lose your minds! PD is in deep, that I can say!

Ok, you beat me to it. They really screwed with Hogburg though, head wise.....just look at how fast he fell off the face of the earth with this org. I'm telling ya, there is so much garbage going on with this coaching staff behind closed doors, that more of it is getting out because everyone in the front office is tired of DJ's act. He portrays himself in front of the media one way, but he has nobody fooled in the front office I'm told. In fact, Greg Millen went after DJ and PD on the broadcast last night when it came to the handling of MDZ, that's because he isn't a local media guy and has been told what has gone with MDZ and others. He was honest and it was a welcomed sight!

Great friggin post! This is why I get so fired up when I hear Sens fans saying oh DJ is great with the prospects, etc....he isn't and in fact, he's flat out awful to the young prospects that aren't in Ottawa on a fulltime basis unless your name is Parker Kelly. I said it on here awhile ago, watch Kastelic not get another game after he played 9 games here. Gus has been mishandled on sooooo many levels. I know NJ has called trying to trade for him, they know they need a backup to Wedgewood and don't believe in Daws yet. Yes, definitely send me an IM on Twitter, look forward to it. |

There needs to be some accountability on player development. You can't keep having highly (or marginally) touted guys fall off the face of the earth. It's strange that Ottawa always seems to have a decently ranked prospect pool, but what comes out of that prospect pool has resulted in bottom of the league results other than a couple of weird lucky years. It's naive to think all prospects will pan out, but when you are in a rebuild, you'd think a few more would pan out since that's where the focus should be. |
