Reading your comments all season about how this team is fun to watch or twisting things to look the way you want them to look, the I know more than everyone and everyone is wrong but me attitude, cut the crap man. Formenton and Stutzle were getting way less icetime when the team was healthy, no injuries and no covid. Formenton many nights in October and November was getting 11-12 min. and Stutzle was 14-15 min. So spare me the average icetime, if it wasn't injuries or covid this coaching staff would've kept the less icetime up. The ONLY reason their average icetime is where it is now isn't because he wanted to give them more icetime out of the goodness of his heart it was because he had no other options then he found out the 2 of them were worthy of it. Stop with your garbage and selective memory crap. - LawyerSens4Life
So, now you write off the actual hard data on playing time as selective memory.
I accept you might not like what I believe.

Some already are, sadly. Not much talk at all about this team on social media. It's sad, but self inflicted. This team will re-sign Zub over CBrown, they can only get one of them under the cap with deals to come for Norris, Formenton this summer, Stutzle next summer, then in 2 years Sanderson. JBD and Thomson will need new deals as well, naturally if they can unload Matt Murray then they could possibly keep CBrown but they are going to have to extend a player like Fiala if they acquired him or if they sign a top 6 forward free agent.....this team has to do more than contend for the playoffs next year as like you said, they need to take advantage of the ELC for some of these young players. That's how teams like TB and Colorado did it folks! - Kevin Francis
Too many businesses and too many die hard fans have given up on this team, they show it by not buying tickets anymore. Only in Arizona would the teams fans be all so fired up for a crowd of 17,000. First time this year that's happened and that used to be a crappy crowd on a Tuesday night with Buffalo coming to town 10 years ago. How the times have changed. So very sad. You said it best with your comment above.

Hard data, did you read what I wrote? I won't be responding to any more of your sideways posts or brown nosing the team the way you do, it's quite pathetic. You don't know how to call a spade a spade, that is very clear.
Someone on here said it best weeks ago about your ridiculous comments, something along the lines of take off the Sens PJ's and throw away the Sens pompoms, then take off your rose-coloured glasses with selective thinking. Yes that explains your narrow minded view on this team. |

each year OTT is messing around in the bottom is 1 year gone off current players contract and 1 year of prime age gone, if Dorion does nothing to get a legit top 6 RW and move brown to 3 RW till he is traded or Re-signed (you never know) you can forget OTT ever being a cup contender, hell they will be barely playoffs contenders.
enough is enough of bottom feeding, progress must be made in the standings or fans will tune out - Mithos
I'm honestly surprised at how many people continue to believe that Connor Brown is a legitimate top-6 winger, especially given DJ Smith's clear pattern of misallocated ice time, and playing favorites. Brown is a hard-working player with excellent speed, but he's a grotesquely overplayed #3RW... who just isn't cut out for such a prominent offensive role. Case in point, he's one of 21 NHL forwards right now with >50GP and >20min/GP of ice time, but falls very short of the high-level production of the other players in that cohort...
- 1 of 3 among those 21F with <50Pts (he has 37Pts, #118th in NHL)
- 1 of 3 among those 21F with <150Shots (he has 104Shots, #181st in NHL)
- 1 of 2 among those 21F with <15G (he has 10G, #195th in NHL)
- 1 of 2 among those 21F with <10PPP (he has 9PPP, #101st in NHL)
Doubling-down on Brown as a top-6 forward into his late-20s/early-30's would be a major error. If they want a veteran to play the top-6, it needs to be someone like Giroux who can actually make guys like Tkachuk, Stutzle, Batherson, Norris, and Formenton more effective offensive players, and handle face-off situations especially at ES/PP... not just provide 'safe' two-way insulation, while leading the team in SH ice time. Look at Giroux's early impact in Florida... 4pts/3GP, 2ESP/2PPP, and >56% in the face-off circle. Plus, he actually wants to play for Ottawa.
Just get that Giroux UFA deal done FFS. |

I will try to reply to a few of the comments, sorry work, family, kids, sports. Busy day.
But I just tweeted this out.
Every Sens fan should watch the latest podcast of Wally and Methot. From the 5-10 min. mark they talk about Tierney, how DJ and PD hate him. Bobby Ryan is also on as a guest backing them up on it!
It explains why Tierney was a healthy scratch last year and we all know the Colin White issues. What I don't get is why PD and DJ hate both of them so much when it was PD who overpaid both of them, so then he acts like an 8 year old and pouts! Incredible. |

Duclair was acting as his own agent, was willing to take 3 years and 10 million yet PD gives Dadonov 3 years 15 million, then lets the asset walk, ugh..... - Kevin Francis
lol ya. Interesting....... Duclair went to FLA and Dadonov went to OTT. |

Well said and researched but this is the problem, he wont get this kind of icetime on a contender therefore not putting up those numbers, but because of the role he has been thrust into here in Ottawa, Brown feels like he's worth 5 million now! Ottawa does this to themselves like you said. They get players to play a role they aren't capable of on other teams, then they outprice themselves. As for Giroux, beyond agree that we need a versatile guy, RW and C. Which is also a problem I have with Colin White, he can play both but PD is focused on moving on from him. If he was making 3 million, nobody would have an issue with White.

Im sure these type of things will sort itself out down the line, but as much as we all were against him, you don't wish death on anyone. He did buy and keep the team here when nobody else stepped up. RIP

I remember reading in the comment section that you said he was in bad shape and that this daughter would likely take over. I guess time will tell what the future of the team will hold. Sad news when anyone passes away.

What was he suffering from? I know he had an organ transplant a few years ago. |

100% agree. I wanted the Sens to have a new owner, but not quite like this. |

He had complications from the transplant. The last few weeks he was in rough shape. I stated it in the comment section last week. I didn't write about it in the blog, thought it didn't need that attention. |

I was already told that the team might be coming straight back to Ottawa after the game tomorrow night in Nashville. They were to stay on the road and fly to Detroit Wednesday, but with this news, it sounds like they might be coming back.

Sadly, in other words, he abused the new liver like his old liver. Very sad. Liver disease is awful.

Melnyk may have been a fool, but he was Ottawa's fool. It may be hard to find someone else willing to burn millions each year just to keep the Sens in Ottawa. |
