Tonight is a perfect example as to why Hayes is meant to be a THIRD line center on a contending team. He was a -3 while losing a shyte ton of faceoffs and I have no idea what he was doing there at the end of the game. Time is running out and he is hanging out at the blueline with the puck milking down the clock for the other team. Did he have a bet on Nashville in this game? |

I’m not taking a dump on you but I read this, mixed with everything else I’ve been reading for days and I feel like something has to be put in perspective.
Day after day for weeks all I’ve heard was, Hextall ignored his scouts when they said they wanted Cale Makar. Of course this board has a hindsight up rawr, when the reality at the time it was either Patrick or hischier, one or the other. Makar isn’t even the first guy this board has talked about “we should have chosen”. A year or two ago Elias Petterson was hot poop until he wasn’t and we should have had him in hindsight too, right?
My point is, we should get another shot under a different GM to write the ship. Not everyone is gonna be Crosby, Stamkos, Tavares, McDavid or Matthews. If Wright has Hughes/Hischier level talent that will take time, I’ll take it. If we can get anyone in the top 5 which needs a little time but a big payoff, I’ll take it. |

They definitely played not to lose tied up late in the 4th.
Then they played to lose just d!cking around with the puck not peppering juice with shots. |

I won't be surprised if he's aggravated his previous injury again. Watching him in the 3rd, he was only pushing off one leg to skate (unless pressured), or just gliding, if not stationary....then you'd catch him doubled over during stoppages. Not a good look, considering he was skating pretty well in previous games. - Flyerfan2868

As a team, the only thing they did well in the game was score. This team continues to be fundamentally awful and a poorly coached mess. They lack simple details in their game in all 3 zones. Players not moving their feet. Making outside turns instead of inside turns, taking themselves out of plays. Awful F3 forecheck structure. The top lines and top two defense pairings were awful tonight. Simply awful.

Thanks. I wish I didn’t (frank)in wrestle with auto correct so much. I never notice my mistakes until later!!!!!! |

By no means did they deserve to win. They were awful. But from about 3 minutes left their was zero push. They have nothing to play for. What was OT going to accomplish? |

You are the only one who thinks frost had a bad game - xShoot4WarAmpsx
I wouldn't say bad...I'd say it was fair to midland or pedestrian.
measuring a player by nice plays now seems like grasping for straws.
He is what he is; a top line AHLer and bottom six Nhler...

Unlike MJL with Risto, I really wanted Frost to succeed for this team because as I have stated many times, this team cannot afford to miss on yet another 1st round pick. However I can't deny what I see, and I see a player that just doesn't have the goods. - jd250
I'll take the off-the-record word of scouts and the on-record observations of Craig Button over yours. |

Just watched Frost lose another o-zone face off though .. now 4/9 on FOs tonight. Was that a nice play too? Oh look, Froft got a shot on goal thanks to a "nice play" by Tippet .. will wonders ever cease? - jd250
(sarcasm) 4 wins, 5 losses.... disgraceful. No center should ever have a W/L ratio like that in a game. Surefire proof a player isn't an NHLer right there.(/sarcasm) |

One good thing for the Flyers down the stretch here is that it looks like the teams ahead of them in the draft lotto sweepstakes have a good number of games against each other remaining. Any three point games here are going to be huge.
Of course it looks like Arizona has the least of these games and maybe the toughest schedule remaining so they might very easily retain that league worst record. |

as long as we finish 3-5 i'm happy going to be nearly impossible to break into the top 2

Same. I’m hoping they don’t pick any later than 5.
It’s crazy that with a season this terrible there are still 5 teams with worse records. |

it is not the same thing, except in your opinion - hello it's me 2050
I don't think we are saying different things.
I believe Ellis's trade value was low because of his potential for injury though his performance (when he plays) lives up to contract. Johansen's trade value was low because while there is no significant injury risk, his performance doesn't live up to contract.
Bottom line: both players had low trade value, which is the same thing I referred to earlier, though for different reasons. (It is possible RJo's value was even lower than Ellis, which is why he didnot het traded and Ellis did (for meager returns))
