when the trade first happened, you hated it because we gave up youth....meyers "practically a rookie" , you were a big fan of meyers, and thought patrick would still turn out. etc etc... later down the road you changed it to, because ellis is always hurt. no mention of meyers and patrick anymore, weird - bradster
yet he still hates the trade. weird.
I do have to give you props for not charging him rent to live in your head. That is mighty generous of you.

It's also completely inaccurate. I questioned the deal the day it was made and why Nashville would trade a top pairing RH defenseman. I stated it was due to his injury risk and the term left on his contract from day one. Making it a very risky move for the Flyers. It was from the Flyers perspective that I also didn't like the team trading youth because I didn't think it was the correct approach for the team to take. The source is just completely irrelevant and non-existent. |

Nah, he's funny but only in small doses. Peter and Chris' stupidity is always geat - xShoot4WarAmpsx
I beg to differ and will argue one year from now after Quagmire really shines in season 25.
Now back to beating the Ellis trade to death.

He needs a 5 hour energy drink 2 hours before the game. I don’t mind mistakes but they better be mistakes of effort. If he needs to be coached to “ move your legs” that is inexcusable for a 22 year old trying to make it in the NHL. If he isn’t putting in the effort now what will he do once he signs a bigger contract and thinks he has it made.
I want to see hungry players Frost, York, Allison and Ratcliff. This team needs to find out what prospects are keepers. - Hosher12
Maybe he figures out how his game fits in the NHL or maybe not. But agreed, move your feet is something you should be doing regardless. For our “top prospect” it’s a disappointing sight. |

As has been stated several times, the injury may have been a fluke, but the fact that he gets injured for an extended period most of the years he's played is not a fluke. Layer that with the fact that he is aging and it is not a good look. And speaking of bad looks Couturier's contact is no bed of roses. They will be paying him until he is 38 and now has a "history" of back issues - mr4tno
they never disclosed exactly what the injury is so there is no way to say whether he will lose functionality, if he is more susceptible to re injury, will it lead to over compensation of other components to the kinetic chain, thus, increasing the possibility of incurring an injury in a different area.....or if the issue is fully corrected |

another MJL special.
he's been hounding that giving up meyers was a mistake and we made such a bad move.
glad you're not the GM, MJL, you'd give Meyers 8 years and an NMC

Someone brought this trade up a few days ago. This rumour is suggesting its a done deal and will be processed in the off season.
Seems like an odd deal IMO Prospect is rumoured to be Elliot Desnoyers and Cap would be retained by MTL |

I dont necessarily hate it. Really depends on Elliot Desnoyers. Im not familiar with him. I know he's a 5th round pick in 2020 and I read he's so much better without the puck than he is with the puck so to me he sounds like a bottom 6 guy at best.
Petry at 4-5 mill doesnt sound too bad. My question would be what role is he playing? Is the plan to Move Ristolainen down to 3rd pair or is Petry the 3rd pair guy?

It would be a colossally stupid trade. Perfect for the Flyers.

Somewhere in my mind this is the D trade equivalent to bringing Hayes in with the uncertainty( well founded) of Nolan Patrick recovering.
Speaking in the great sarcastic tone with associated with the following words...
'What could go wrong"... with Ryan Ellis after missing a full season ?
Ryan Ellis= new Chris Pronger permanent LTIR contract

I don't wish it on Ryan Ellis and for that to happen to him. However that becoming the situation would be a very good thing for the Flyers.

Not at all. Funny you say that because all the Habs fans on that board think its a bad deal for them and that Flyer accepting is a no brainer.
Depending on the retention Petry is pretty much Braun. If you are lucky you get your wish and maybe Petry knocks Ristolainen down to the 3rd pair.

JVR has little to no value. If he had value we wouldnt need to talk about pssible retention on a move in the offseason. Petry move is one that is required to move JVR
We dont need to retain salary on JVR but we have to take a contract back which is Petry. At the full 6.25 mill for 3 more years for a 34 year old, I would say no way. But with MTL talking about retaining cap I think its something worth looking into.

you wouldn't take JVR at 50% retained for your 3rd line in a cup run? |

Based on the direction we all know they flyers are going this summer can you elaborate on why you think it would be a colossally stupid trade. Looking forward to your insight CLiff

No. I wouldnt. He's like a non physical version of Simmonds. He will get dirty goals but thats all you will get from him. Id rather have a guy like Blake Coleman on my 3rd line |
