Good GM's don't make a deal for a player like Ellis with an injury history that is a potential cap anchor and misses the amount of games that he has missed. It's not a fluke injury.
Fletcher didn't trade for Couturier. Nor did he have the back injury when the contract was signed.

I haven’t gotten very involved in the Ellis arguments. Fact of the matter is they gave up next to nothing and they can LTIR him. Most people feel like this team shouldn’t be spending to the cap anyway so carrying his cap in the off-season isn’t a huge concern for me.

I hope he plays at some point but if not oh well. This team has far bigger issues to worry about.

That's speculation of course so I will ask you to speculate again. Why didn't another GM in the league step up and make a better offer of a return than the Flyers offered? With that many GM's willing to make that trade in a flash? Nashville instantly flipped Patrick. So they weren't high on him. Myers was a talented but struggling defenseman. No team was willing to make a better offer?
