The players are clearly responding to the St Louis style of running the club. I wonder if St Louis is that good, or was the bar so low from Ducharme's style? Regardless, there is 15 or so games left to discover the players that really want to stay around, and those that must be cast off.... |

The line of Byron-Dvorak-Armia has been very effective for a few games. Armia is forcing turnovers and the other two are capitalizing. All three are racking up the points and +/-. |

I think we can give St-Louis a lot of credit, he seems to have a very efficient way of motivating his players, which isn't directly related to the strategies and systems that players use on the ice, but is just as important. he also beneficiated from that initial spark that teams usually have when there's a coaching change...
I doubt Ducharme was too incompetent to do the job or anything, but at the beginning of the season he had to deal with the context of a group of guys who were just coming back from losing in the Stanley cup final, and that now had to move forward without 2 of their most crucial players in Price and Weber. let's just say that everyone's morale at that point must've been really low... |

They also lost Danualt and Edmunston. Also Tatar who was one of their top two way players the last couple years. |

Sorry i disagree. He was not cut out to coach. He showed his lack of ability to adapt in the playoffs. Those players won despite him. He showed no creativity or understanding of the team. Nor was there any clear system. Just some sort of weird Hybrid-Claude Julien-esque general game plan that handcuffed players.
Finally, his ultimate crime was his mishandling of the young players. From the playoffs to now he has made it abundantly clear he has no concept of how to develop players. Long and short, he was not a good coach.

yup, lots of changes occurred that negatively impacted the team, which made it basically impossible to get out of it smoothly and find their groove again to perform. |

yeah, I get that a head coach doesn't necessarily always play a crucial role in winning hockey games, but it's an exageration to say that they won despite of him. I get that he was not a fan favorite and that his post-games weren't very inspiring, but he's won at every other level he's coached at, so clearly he must've been doing a few things right. perhaps you could argue that he wasn't cut for a coaching job in the NHL, but to say that he's incompetent and that he had absolutely nothing to do with his team getting to the final isn't a very honest assessment, imho. |

I feel like plenty of players will be motivated to come back next year to play under St-Louis again.
Add to that Guhle, Harris, our future top 3 pick and other youngster making the jump next year. or the next... that rebuild ain't gonna take that long fellas.
