yeah I guess, I just meant as an NHL franchise in general, it sucks when even having a winning team doesn't bring in more fans.
- Pat1993

good teams or bad teams, they don't give a (frank). they don't know the game. half of the people there are canadians.

Why would anyone give a poop if they’re there to watch a hockey game?

I just prefer it when a team that plays where hockey really matters wins.

Ok, as a fan why would you care how many other fans are at the game?

Did you go to the game to see the fans, or the hockey game?

Clearer?

I just find it sucks that a market like QC, where fans actually care, doesn't have a hockey team, while places like Florida and Arizona do.

is that clear for ya, Pete?

I know what you mean Pat.
see it like the F1 tour. who cares if they race in Dubai, Tokyo or Montreal?
they're in FLA and PHX for the money tv brings. that's it.

Oh, that I get 100%

But I didn’t realize a team in QC was part of the discussion.

Anywho, they did have one and it moved, and I’m not sure why, was it lack of interest?

I honestly don’t know..

they didn't have the cashflow to follow the parade. no profits sharing at the time, and no cap either.

well it's part of the logic, yes. and the move from QC was more of a lack of interest from ownership, I'm sure they'd be fine today. they'd definitely do better than other teams in the league, that's for sure.

So.. the franchise didn’t have enough cash flow.

And the owner sought to sell, and cash in on the dollar differential.

We’re there still plenty of fans at games?

oh sure, sold out. but old building, no real corporate suites. the owner asked the gouvernment to help build a new one, but the answer was no. so beubye.

now they have a new building but no team lol
unless the Sens move to Qc, I'm afraid we won't see a hockey team ever again. and even that looks like a long shot.

The writing, in both languages, had been on the wall for years, so there was no surprise last week when the money-losing Quebec Nordiques finally died. The wake was quiet in Quebec City, where the team began 23 years ago in the World Hockey Association before joining the National Hockey League in 1979. At a largely emotionless news conference, team president Marcel Aubut and the other shareholders - the Quebec Labor Federation pension fund, La Mutuelle insurance company, the Daishowa paper company and the Metro-Richelieu grocery store chain - announced that they had sold the franchise to COMSAT Entertainment Group of Bethesda, Md., for $103 million. Aubut claimed that the team could not survive in the NHL's smallest market without a new, publicly funded arena and ongoing government support. But Quebec Premier Jacques Parizeau instead offered to buy out Aubut and underwrite some team deficits for two years while the provincial government conducted a feasibility study on the arena. That, the owners decided, was not enough - and now the soon-to-be-renamed Nordiques are off to Denver.

Ah..they wanted public funding.

That’s never a good thing..

Yup, and I think the dude that hammered him, was kicked out in the second, and then played the third.

Oh, the good old days..
