Ville Husso, blues goalie, has some crazy numbers. Going to be a war just to get a goal or two. Good luck boys! - bloatedmosquito

No one is going to trade for him if he's not signed... and if he's not qualified, he's a UFA... and if he's qualified who wants to trade for him.

Would’ve just traded him as a rental. Tired of this soft slow team that wins just enough to keep some fans happy.
Can’t pay $6M+ to a guy who can keep up with 5v5 play in higher intensity games. |

Team is definitely softer since the TDL... which was already too soft.
TDL was Mixed Messages. Strip down the extremely effective 4rth line, trade a 3rd for a fringe player and lose half the cap space that was just acquired. Which way are we going? |

He brings decent value at 3-3.5 million/season. But anywhere north of 4, he’s overpaid. |

That’s just bad math. Based on NHL player comparables of similar points and age he’s in the $5.78 million to $7.22 million range. That’s reality. |

I think they knew what Motte was asking for his next contract and made a decision to cut him loose. That's pretty good direction as far as I'm concerned. No point in keeping him if you aren't going to be able to fit his contract into future plans. |

I didn't get it either. Seems like a half foot in type of mentality. Also curious to see if they try to establish a time identity or not. Right now this team doesn't have one. Not physical or fast
And they traded way their fastest player who would throw some hits. |

4rth round pick... The return is so low that the true value would be to keep him for the playoff push and for the potential playoff games.... even if he walks.
People make it sound like he got a return they couldn't walk away from. Mixed messages on the pick... because if a 4rth is worth that much, why trade a 3rd for a soft fringe defenseman who was a regular healthy scratch? Keep the 3rd and call up Rathbone and give him a shot! It would probably be just the experience he needs to make the club out of camp next season... I mean, trade a 3rd and block a young players chance? Again, mixed messages.

Speed. Energy. Grit. Best forward PK. Main piece of a effective line. Clutch in big games.
4rth isn't worth losing all that.

I'll laugh if they were worried about overpaying a heart and soul guy like him but will overpay for slow soft Boeser. Not a great start for culture change. |

Not sure if gutting the 4rth line for a 4rth round pick was such a good idea. If an effective 4rth line helps you get into the playoffs and then helps the team in the playoffs... is it a big deal letting Motte walk? Its a 4rth rounder ffs...
Mixed messages. A 3rd rounder is worth a fringe D-man because you need him to make the playoffs otherwise they would sink or swim with the D they have after the Hamonic trade.
- boonerbuck
lol losing Motte ironically could cost us the PO's...but at least it was a diverse move.

Bruce calling him a puck hog. True dat...
Miller had a poop game as well.
Halak was 2nd best goalie. Bruce can share some of the blame as well... |
