For an extra $500,000 they probably could have kept Motte...he's earned it. Now we have a 4th line that's seemingly ineffective and have to start over. Not the right Message I bet Boudreau was pissed when he heard Motte was gone. Hamonic as well. - LordHumungous
Hamonic was disruptive and a disturbance.
Kind of like you in here. |

A 4th liner and a depth defensemen who no one on the team liked and people are still writing short stories of the emotional distress. |

NHL announces salary cap to rise by 1 million for next season.
It was suggested a few months back, now it is confirmed. |

Perfect, now we have the space to add E Kane at $5 x 5 and Kadri at $8 x 5! |

Maybe they couldn't and that's why they traded him cause Motte wanted too much. 4th liner on an ok team. Beer be able to foll that hole for 1 mill or we have bigger problems lol |

Plus the “4th line” is Petan, Richardson, Lockwood. It’s not like Boudreau is rolling out Lammikko between Highmore and Lockwood (as the replacement) or Podkolzin (as the replacement) or some other call up. |

Leafs v Bruins tonight should be good, and Flames v Avalanche another big game.
Not much scoreboard watching for Canucks. Just the Ducks home to the Stars that really matters. |

All chatter was Motte wanted more than a 500k raise. Think 2.5/yr or so. Which is way too much for a 4th liner. Which is why they traded him.
From all indications, Allvin and Rutherford have an internal cap on depth pieces. They have a good history of bringing guys up from their farm system to supplement their roster, and hopefully they can instill that here in short order.
Since trading Motte, the team is 2-1-1 and the PK is 12/13. Maybe not such a huge drop off? |

Benning would have let him walk like the others for zero. |

Allvin had gone on record after the trade that him and Mottes agent had discussed an extension but couldn't come to terms on the $. I imagine he wasn't going to sign for the same, or less, considering his numbers had improved from when he signed his last deal.
Getting something for Motte, even if it was a 4th round pick, was ABSOLUTELY the right move. Benning never projected cap space, which is why we are in this mess, so Allvin doing some forward thinking into the future of the cap structure is a fantastic thing.

He was definitely after a raise, and deservedly so. He's earned it. Just doesn't fit with the Canucks, and that's fine.
Glad Allvin got something for him. The Canucks aren't really in a spot to "keep their own rentals" for a playoff push. |

lol aware of the numbers bud. That 2011 squad was amazing as previously stated. However the 94 team was a different beast. I'd take that 94 club in the PO's today over that 2011 club anyday. Regardless of numbers. It's like saying Micheal Jackson is the greatest musician of all time just because he sold the most records Gotta read between the lines a bit. - LordHumungous
But the question was best Canuck team. Regardless of your opinion, the 94 team was not the best. They had a miracle run in the playoffs but their regular season was meh. 41-40.
I all honesty, you might be best served not reading “between the lines”. It’s clouding your perspective.
