No, that’s me. I know all my alts. PG was my original account which I forgot the password to so I started Lefty, then I wanted to talk in the Flyers thread as a Flyers fan so I started DraftandDestroy….that’s all me. - LeftCoaster
Lol, yes, we all know all your personalities, it was a joke. Maybe go for a dip in the pool, you might have sun stroke. |

Allvin had gone on record after the trade that him and Mottes agent had discussed an extension but couldn't come to terms on the $. I imagine he wasn't going to sign for the same, or less, considering his numbers had improved from when he signed his last deal.
Getting something for Motte, even if it was a 4th round pick, was ABSOLUTELY the right move. Benning never projected cap space, which is why we are in this mess, so Allvin doing some forward thinking into the future of the cap structure is a fantastic thing. - Codes1087
Exactly!

He was definitely after a raise, and deservedly so. He's earned it. Just doesn't fit with the Canucks, and that's fine.
Glad Allvin got something for him. The Canucks aren't really in a spot to "keep their own rentals" for a playoff push. - NewYorkNuck
It was nice seeing the new, diverse management team be pro-active at the trade deadline. It hints at the idea that they might actually have a plan going forward. |

But the question was best Canuck team. Regardless of your opinion, the 94 team was not the best. They had a miracle run in the playoffs but their regular season was meh. 41-40.
I all honesty, you might be best served not reading “between the lines”. It’s clouding your perspective. - bloatedmosquito
I agree, that 2011 team was far and away the best Canucks team in their history, and it’s not even close. But the 94 team had great character guys and they were tough, a different era of hockey. I loved them both. I think the 93 team was better but that 94 team caught fire in the first round and they almost rode that to a Stanley Cup.
Linden and Bure were unbelievable!! |

A 4th liner and a depth defensemen who no one on the team liked and people are still writing short stories of the emotional distress. - Marwood
It's funny how this worked out. I came to my senses about mixed messages and giving away picks for fringe players who have been healthy scratches, players that are expendable and eat up cap. You are no longer worried about it. It' not a big deal anymore. Crazy times...

Could it be possible that they don't see Rathbone as an NHL defenseman?
So they went and cleared up capspace(Hamonic) for a player that they think will fit what they need on the backend.(Dermott)
I have gone on record saying I don't know much about Dermott, as I don't watch the Leafs, but I have also expressed some concerns about this management team.
I gave Benning 6 years before I lost all faith in him, I am sure I can give this new group at least 6 months before jumping all over them. - Reubenkincade
Agreed the Rathbone love is strange. Trade him for
Some size on the backend. If he pans out he can be another Dermott. Great |

Benning would have let him walk like the others for zero. - Argue4U
Benning would trade a 3rd for a player like Dermott.

How is bringing in Dermott protecting cap space? They used up half the cap space they created... Like I said before, they still have Poolman. That contradicts what you just said.

2011 was the best regular season team this franchise ever had. 2nd best playoff team though. They didnt have the heart and determination that the 94 team had... not a choker among them.

I agree with the bold.
No need to trade a 3rd for Dermott then... Poolman, Rathbone and the waiver wire could take care of that next season.

dermott is 25, cost controlled (1 more year) and half the price of Hamonic
Allvin didn't sign Poolman in the first place, and im pretty sure he was injured during the TDL, not that I think teams were lining up to acquire him.
Management has said that they want to clear cap space and get younger, its just not going to get done in one TDL. You can't fix 8 years worth of bad cap management/trades/signings in 3 months, which is how long Allvin has been GM.

25 years old 255 career games.
By comparison Poolman is 28 and has 159.
You may need to reassess your definition of fringe. |
