The players have a certain comfort level with Reaves on their team. He deters bad poop from happening just by his mere presence. The idea he should just pick a fight every game just to earn his 1.7 million is ridiculous.
Reaves earns his money in intangibles. Things that NO ONE on this board can fully understand because we aren’t in that lockerroom.
I’ve said it before, I want him paid by the NY rangers until he retires. Because I know my players aren’t going to get ass slapped most of the time if he is on the roster. It’s a simple as that - Slimtj100
Shesty has been run about a dozens times, which im sure you do not know is 12, Greenway decked Panarin, no response at all from Reaves.so much as a deterrent.
You like to bet, how games do you think Reaves will be dressed the rest of the season??
His 1.7 mil will be wasted next year on a team in need of Cap space. |

If the refs would actually call instigator penalties on 3rd man in incidents, Trouba wouldn't have to fight after every hit. If you make it a double minor it'd go away quick. - fourtrax23
F the instigator. It gets called so erratically just get rid of it |

It seems like the perfect opportunity to call one. Even if the hit that caused the fight was a penalty the player that starts the fight in that situation should be given a 2 minute minor and/or a 10 minute misconduct. You'll see that poop go away really quick. |

I don't understand how that would be a good response to the problem. |

I just sent a DM to Paul Stewart through here to see what his opinion is on why it never gets called. |

Its just dumb. Trouba who is our best defensive defenseman has to leave for 5 minutes if he throws a clean hit. Whats his incentive to throw hits if he has to fight for them. |

If it was called how it should be, fine. But it’s not, it’s called objectively which means you never know when it will be called and when it won’t. Either call it or don’t. I’m in the boat of not calling it, let the players work it out amongst themselves. If someone ran Panarin or Laf hard we’d want one of our guys stepping up for them. |

I guess it's that I disagree with your opinion that we should want someone to "step up" and accost someone for laying a clean check. That is the bullpoop that needs to be removed from the game. |

Tom Wilson goes out and cleanly lays out Fox. I’m talking monster shoulder to shoulder and Fox doesn’t get up. U don’t want Reaves going after Wilson? Or u do but u want Reaves to get 2 minutes for it? Not being a Richard here, just trying to see where you’re coming from. |

I want Reaves to go over the boards the next time Wilson is on the ice and engage him, preferably while still playing the game of hockey. If he can get him to drop the gloves, great.
A clean check is a clean check and it is part of the game. My player, their player, I don't care. If it's within the rules, it should not call for retaliation. |

I'm with Tony, as much as I want to kill Wilson in that scenario, its part of hockey. I would want Reaves to go out there and lay a clean hit on one of their skilled guys or ask Wilson to fight. |

Agreed. Also drawing the distinction that if Wilson hits Fox cleanly I'd like Reaves to respond cleanly and in the course of the game. If Wilson does what he did to Panarin last year I want Reaves to rip his head off, because what Wilson did was outside the normal course of the game.
Having said that nobody has taken liberties unanswered with our team all year. There have been some hits that have gone unanswered for sure, but again you can't take a dumb penalty because someone caught you clean. Plays like Maroon hitting Shesty have been appropriately answered and while Shesty still gets bumped on occasion it's nowhere near the amount he was getting ran last year |

i was about to lose my mind a few games ago when panarin skated into someone and hurt himself and strome turns around and fights the guy. granted strome didn't see it, but i can't stand that crap. |
