And got 5 Stanley Cups - penguininnevada
so the key is to run the franchise into the group and get bailed out by the NHL |

Classless organization to sit Yandle and end streak. Disrespectful and nothing to be proud of. Youth movement in a lost season at a veterans expense. 1975 is their rallying call. - Vincepens
I think the only people who don’t get that sitting Yandle was a bad move are limited to this board. It’s like people from Philadelphia don’t understand that people from outside of their bubble widely hate people from Philadelphia due to their bad behavior when it comes to sports. Like, Carl Colaiacovo, Jeremy Roenick, Kevin Hayes and whomever else coming to the defense of Keith Yandle aren’t idiots. I’ve said this repeatedly since January. The record is an NHL story, which was the only thing the Flyers had going for them. Keith Yandle is respected around the league. This team isn’t any good. What do they have to gain by sitting Yandle? Pride? You wanna win a couple of meaningless games in April? The organization might take a hit here by the view of outsiders who might have considered coming here in the future and not just by being a bad team prior to this decision. |

Based on performance he should have been dumped before he set his record |

Let me tell you the tale of a hot rod race
That happened out in a secluded place
Where no one lives
'cept cows and a few raccoons

Based on performance he should have been dumped before he set his record - THE EVIL WITHIN
The decision to end the streak should have came earlier in the season when the playoffs were still in reach. Since that didn’t happen, the streak should have ended at the end of this season along with his current contact and career. |

I don't agree with much of what you write, but on this I agree with you 100%.
Should have allowed him get to 1000 games and end his career there.
If they were gonna take a stand against the streak, they should have done it months ago when the games mattered, not wait until now. He wasn't blocking Attard from playing. There's no reason to do it now, it's not even symbolic.
Yands is a class act off the ice, he's loved by everybody who's around him, the players, the staff, the arena people. He's the kind of guy who learns everybody's name, and takes a min out of his day to joke around with you, no matter if you're the team owner or the guy who picks up the towels off the floor.
He doesn't deserve to play a lot of minutes, but he does deserve to have his career accomplishment respected. It's not like he signed himself to the team. They knew exactly what it meant.
Massive Richard move by the Flyers. |

from elsewhere:
ASF said in a twitter chat today Flyers had a deal done for Petry but he wouldn't waive to come to the Flyers.
Wonder who his agent is.... - hello it's me 2050
It simply boggles the mind how stupid Chuck Fletcher is.
Thank god Petry saved Chuck from himself in this case.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. I’ve been saying for months to let the streak play out. This is what most of you wanted, now your team has even more egg on their face possibly with your help. |

Maybe the Yotes will scratch Kessel in game 82.
Since Yandle's streak started with them... |

No one actually cares about Yandle tho. If they did they could’ve had him for pennies at the deadline. He got the record. Teams don’t owe their players individual accolades. The Flyers did him a favor by not benching his cooked ass before he broke the record.
The streak is over and basically so is his career here, if not the league. How long are people going to harp over this nonsense |

A real team sitting where the flyers are would not be trading for Petry types.
That being said seeing the direction the flyers will go Petry isn't a bad move if the rumored retention was part of it. They could do worse and probably will.

Now that it is over my guess is going forward no one cares one iota he was benched.
Flyers are just a poorly run organization at this juncture.

Agree with this 100%. Why sit the guy now? I get it he hasn’t been good, and Attard needs a look. But why Yandle over Seeler… we know what we have with Seeler and it’s not good. Should have let Yandle finish the streak. At this point the games just don’t matter and really makes the organ-I-zation look even worse. |

Jack Hughes hurt on a completely clean hit and Subban gets himself tossed for responding. Such a baby league now. |

You probably need to go and re-watch the January presser again, Dave Scott understands what a great hockey man chuckles is, and has full confidence in him turning this thing around in short order
Please fall in line, the consequences are not worth it

I don’t know what this means but to a person who doesn’t work, most likely nothing. All I can tell you is, we don’t listen to the same type of music. |
