2 inches is a big difference

It would be interesting to put together the all-time (modern era) 5'9" and under team.

Bryson should play forward. 5'9 guys don't belong on the blue. - DirtyDan

Some decent names at 5'9. Thing is they're 99% forwards

We’re talking about a depth player here

That 5'9-5'10 range has grown...no pun intended. Krug, Fox, Barrie, Girard, Quinn Hughes...more than a few good short ones now. |

No, but when you can upgrade from a player you do it. Especially when we need D-men like Samuel who can hit and block and clear the net and actually play D. Not just making some decent passes.

I'd argue there's no significant difference between 5'9" and 5'11"(especially since everyone wants someone at least 6'2"). Weight would make more difference. |

Height and weight most of the time go hand in hand. When you're at peak health for your height your only going to be so heavy |

Their numbers are almost identical, but Beezer also played in the 80's when it was defense optional, and once the 90's rolled around his numbers got much better |

There’s more to playing defense than just defending
Getting the puck outta the zone is very important as well
And I’m not saying we couldn’t upgrade
Obviously there’s many better defensemen
But he’s a cheap & decent bottom pair or 7th defenseman |

I disagree. I'm 5'11 and play D and I'm considered short. Game is getting shorter but you still rarely see a solid dman at 5'9. Spurgeon is an outlier

Most of those guys are 5'9 or 5'10 though. Only one who isn't is Fox, he was 5'10 1/2 on draft day, he's 5'11 now. |

The only points you’ve made is that u think he’s too short, which just isn’t a very good point since it’s arguable to begin with
Again…. he’s the 6/7 defenseman
And he’s fine in that role
But sure, go ahead & worry about it bc he’s 5’9 |

Cale Makar is listed at 5'11" too, which means he's probably 5'9" or 5'10".
Also, what's the difference between 5'9" 175 Bryson and 5'11" 178 Fitzgerald?
Or 5'11" 181 Krebs and 6'0" 220 Chinese guy |

Hypothetically if you have a lot of tall defenseman like power, samuelsson and even dahlin, could you carry a few shorter guys to balance it out? |
