What % do you believe this to be factual?

Squabbling over less than 1,000,000 with a 1st round prospect?

I'm not sure we do yet.

McTavish got near max bonuses. Really making me question that 3 other high picks took equal lesser amounts.

So I see that Vegas is 56% to make the playoffs. Even if they do make the playoffs it might be so bad. If they go out in the first round I believe that their picks would have the highest pick of all of the playoff teams because they would (most likely) have the worst record of all of the playoff teams. It would also prevent them from moving up in the lottery.

Is the max not $925K per? I know the bonuses and everything. But base pay is $925K and he only got $916K.

His salary this year is $900K and with the prorated amount it's probably like a $500 difference, but still.

If they make the playoffs they will get 3 key players back though because of the lack of cap in the playoffs

The escalating nature of the performance bonuses from year 2 to 3 is also strange.

Check out Detroit and compare Raymond to Seider.

The interesting “what if…”.

What if there was an experienced, successful, hockey-centric, President of Hockey Operations?

Does that experience in these type of negotiations bring a different outcome?

It's not really the base, everyone gets that. Seems it went down from 925 to 916, assume because of revenues.

We're talking about the performance bonuses, where the max is 2.85m.

I can't figure out what is going on, but even the base is different between Power, Beniers, and Kent Johnson.

Yes, assuming that they are healthy. I know that Stone is at least skating now. I think my bigger fear of them getting in is that they wouldn't be playing some of the elite teams in the first round.

Sure to be wrong prediction: If Vegas makes the playoffs, their pick will be lower than Florida's, as the Panthers goaltending scares me.

Deals are pretty standard for college signees. I doubt he didn’t sign due to “contract language.” Simple rarionale:

1. Portillo is in the Ross school of business, enjoys being a student and why would he be in a rush to sign with an organization that has another goalie in a parallel
Development path. Sabres may have a higher opinion of Levi?
2. If Johnson hasn’t signed yet, he’s not signing now. Why would he be in a rush to sign with an organization that is already stacked at LHD?

I would be willing to bet that when most college kids don't sign they already have an idea of where they want to go. I don't think it was a coincidence that Adam Fox demanded that he was to go to the Rangers.

This is excuse making IMO.

Comes down to, do they want to play for Buffalo or not.

Why does it have to be so black and white? It surely isn't. They might want to stay in school to progress more. Or they don't feel they are ready. Or they have identified the team that they want to go to.

Our friend who microwaves chicken is plugged into the organization somehow. He called the Hall thing, so I trust what he says. Even if we don't accept his claim as fact, has ownership earned any benefit of the doubt with these types of things? And in the end, does it really matter exactly why neither goalie signed? That's an organizational failure no matter how you slice it.

Year 2 and 3 on all of them are max base, max A's, and partial B's. Very strange that they are the same $, but that's what they tweeted, so it seems right.

You're right, I'm still trying to make sense of it all.

The CF tweet shows what Gerbe was saying, that they gave some bonuses this year and a slightly below max salary.

As Gerbe said, it's not really a great look if they don't but you can't call it an organizational failure without knowing the details. For all we know they will sign next year or they may have planned on signing with someone else all along.
