Do you enjoy watching Rasmus Dahlin ?
- Pegullaville

I probably would if I gave enough of a poop to actually watch the games, but being purposely bad for 8 (frank)ing years was enough to push me to not give a poop, and judging by the attendance, I'm hardly alone.

Check out the difference between the Seider and Raymond ELC deals on Detroit. Weird.

Seider needs to fire his agent

I enjoy wins. I don't give a frying fluck who's on the ice.

Do you think having a potential top 10 d-man in the entire league in Rasmus Dahlin will help the team win games ?

Having a top 10 C was supposed to help, but management didn't care about winning and pushed him out the door

Panthers, Hurricanes, and Avs all had pretty dire decades before their recent return to the playoffs.

But half as much? And it's not even a cap thing it's a dollars thing and why would you risk pissing off a potential franchise player?

I got nothing. I'm surprised by it.

Levi will sign here, he would have to play another few seasons at Northeastern to be able to pick his destination and I doubt he would wait that long.

Portillo and Johnson are legitimate concerns though.

- Pegullaville

Port and Johnson still have incentive to sign with Buffalo in a year. By not signing this year they delayed their pro career by a year. If they sign in buffalo in a year (along with Levi who
Will sign) the. There pro career starts in a year. If they don’t sign here and wait to become a UFA in July,
They delay their pro career a year another year (as one year of their ELC isn’t torn up like Power is doing now)

But they weren't trying to lose cutting as much salary as they could. I stuck by the Bills the entire drought, because although they were bad, they were at least trying to win. Took less than half that amount of time for me to stop giving a poop about the Sabres, and hockey by far is my favorite sport.

Not seeing the max was surprise one.

The even bigger surprise was seeing half the performance bonus in year 2 compared to year 3 when year 3 isn't even the max.

I'm shocked.

3 of the top 5-7 prospects saying “no thanks” is a bad look for a management team that preaches wanting people who want to be here.
- ImThatGuy

I couldn't care less about "optics". You guys are way too hung up on it.

Yes, they've got a long way to go, on and off the ice. If Johnson, Portillo and Levi (who I think will sign at the end of the day) don't want to be here based on the team basically sucking for the past decade, then shame on them for not wanting to be part of the solution here.

Adams can't beg them to be here, but he's absolutely correct in saying "we want players that want to be here" to help correct all this losing.

I'm not worried. We still have some good pieces currently on the team (Tuch, Dahlin, Cozens, Krebs, Skinner, Samuelsson Tage), plus three who look like blue-chippers coming (JJ, Quinn, Power) and he'll make some trades.

Adams has another year to get Portiollo signed. Ditto Ryan Johnson.

If they don't sign, it's a failure as it is Adams job to get the deals done.

Nobody is saying it is easy, but it is his job to make the difficult happen.

- kingcong39

If they don't want to sign here, you can't force them. It's really that simple.

If all 3 walk and choose to become UFA's, that is a fireable offense for any GM.

Adams gets the old A for effort, eh?

If all 3 walk, he should be fired.

His job is literally to get them to sign.

If he can't get that job done, what kind of GM is he?

How can anyone say that prospects not wanting to sign here is not a bad look for the organization. It just shows how bad the outside perception really is.
- Buff36

All they can do is take it day by day to try to change it. It doesn't happen overnight.

90-95% of the players they draft will sign here, if they want them to. This isn't some epidemic. People need to relax. There's still time.

I'm not going to get into this with you, because all we'll do is go round and round.

How do YOU feel about Portillo and Johnson potentially not signing here? Because all that losing potentially impacts their decisions.

So again, was all this losing worth it?

I want wins. I root for the crest on the front.

So, say they don't want to play for us.

What are Adams and Co. supposed to do about it, cry, beg and plead?

You guys act like it's easy. Get em signed!

It takes two, and if they want to play elsewhere, (frank) em. See ya.

Goalies are voodoo. Portillo might not even be an NHL goaltender, or he could end up a #1. With UPL and Levi in the fold it would be unfortunate but not the end of the world.

Ryan Johnson would hurt, I think he’ll be an NHL d-man for a long time

Bolded are all products of losing, including Levi the Florida 1st rounder and the Vegas first rounder.

It's the NHL, draft picks are almost compelled to sign. They are actively hurting themselves by not signing.

Late bloomers can be tough to sign. This should never be an issue with high picks.

Drafting two hall of famers in Bergeron and Marchand outside of the first round isn’t exactly a replicable strategy.

Your highest odds of drafting a super star come from tanking.

Like drafting that guy in Edmonton, or that American with 58 goals this year in Toronto.
