Even if the Sabres are a ”budget organization” like u say, Power signed- so that doesn’t back up the (presumed) point that the Sabres are being cheap & that’s somehow hurting us
It’s the ultimate in mental gymnastics to try & turn Power’s signing into a negative

No, no. You actually do not "get it". The last 2 seasons were coached by literally the worst coach in NHL history, and he buried Skinner on the 4th line, instead of you know, playing him with the 10 million dollar center he was signed to play next to after scoring 40 goals on his wing and getting a 9 million dollar contract for doing so.

Then, surprise, surprise, two years later that 10 million dollar center demands a trade for a multitude of reasons and Skinner, who had been buried on the 4th line, gets to play on line 1 again and miraculously is a 30 goal scorer again.

I've always been a fan of Skinner, but yes, he has always been inconsistent. But he played on a terrible Hurricanes team for years, and the 4 years leading into his big contract, he scored 28, 37, 24 and then 40 goals. Suddenly, the new Sabres coach decided that he deserved to play with Johan Larsson, and Zemgus Girgensons... And the next year it got even worse, playing with Cody Eakin, Tobias Rieder, Riley Sheahan, Curtis Lazar...

Easily still 20 goal seasons both years with a competent coach. Literally no one could score in his system last year. We set a record for most losses in a row. And most years missing the playoffs. And the coach is a career con-man.

You're clueless.

- BeadyEyedDouche

Literally the worst coach in NHL history? Ok there bud.

He was demoted the fourth line after starting in Top 6 cause his play dictated it. The coach wasn’t just going to pop him up to the first line if he didn’t deserve it.

28,37,24 leading up to 40? That’s why you think 9m per is a good sign? Yikes. You should pop into NHL.com and check out what players with those stat line make…it’s not 9M

“Easily still 20 goals…” - shoulda woulda coulda

Again! Literallyno one could score? So no goals scored? How about it was a bad team made worse by a bad coach. Blame games aren’t the way to go bud.

Bad teams set bad records. Teams filled with bad contracts create an even worse situation. Can’t win with ‘em - nobody will take ‘em.

Inconsistent players don’t get 9M.
You’re classless.

To somehow try to tie Power signing to Portillo & Levi & maybe Johnson not signing is exactly a negative dude
I’m not saying that’s what you’re doing, but if it is then it doesn’t make much sense
And the overall tone of the posts seemed negative to me

I would love to understand exactly what Gerbe was referring to about Portillo's issue with the contract language.
Wouldn't it seem reasonable to assume that the contract language is basically boiler-plate stuff...just fill in the blanks and off we go. Did Kim try to outsmart the kid with some unconventional terms about serving as a cookie Baker after practices or something?

Doing relatively well 36. Enjoying the weather down here before it gets blistering hot. Working my nuts off, getting the house ready to put on the market...busy busy busy.

How about you? You back at work yet?

You mean like Eichel?

Let's see if you answer this one.

- Wetbandit1

Vegas is 8-3 in their last 11.

Jack Eichel after not playing hockey for a year and a half and having neck surgery.

That entire core of their 2011 Stanley Cup team was drafted outside the first round (Marchand, Bergy, Krejci, Lucic).

Winning teams are built different ways.

What do you have to say about all the high picks Edmonton had, and failed to do anything with? That should have been an instant success, no?

- Powerslave

Edmonton, Buffalo, Vancouver.

Meddling owners, terrible GM’ing, bad coaches.

Taylor Hall won a Hart after he left Edmonton, he was traded for Adam freaking Larsson. I think that sums up that decade of Oilers hockey in a couple of sentences

Jack Eichel is not apart of the Buffalo Sabres. He's a fantastic hockey player. Let's move on and hope that Vegas misses the playoffs. And maybe Adams opens his eyes and can squeeze 1 more asset from them.

His cap hit could be 17 mil and it wouldn’t make a difference for our cap for the next three years.

So seriously who cares anymore about that?

In fact, can someone name a team that is bad because of their salary cap? It’s such a loser mentality to constantly talk cap hits and contracts

- sbroads24

So Botterill knew when we signed him to that deal we’d be hovering around the salary cap floor a few years later because we traded two elite forwards to retool again ?

The Kings haven’t been doing us any favours lately.

That pick might go from 16 into the 20’s pretty soon.

And still not a point a game. Good thing Vegas has played:
Chicago, Seattle, Seattle, Vancouver, Vancouver, Arizona since March 26.
They get Vancouver again tonight, but then it gets hard again.

I mean Buffalo went and beat a bunch of playoff teams at the beginning of March, it’s almost like you have to get up to play anybody in this league no matter what their record is ?
