can we talk about ROR? - SabresFaninIndiana
Talk about who you want, just agreeing on the penalty. |

Nobody remembers that part. At the end of the day, the win column is king.

"Jack Eichel is gone we need to move on" I was told.
This board has an unhealthy obsession with him.
Also, that's a penalty all day. - ImThatGuy
I still want to see what Vegas looks like last year. Eichel will have a full offseason to get back in shape while fully healthy, which he hasn't had in years. Knowing what we know about his work ethic, that's going to do wonders for him.

7 games left. A record of 3-4 (or some combination of OTL/SOL) gets them to 30 wins. Is that considered a successful season? - buffalofan19
no but lots of good things to take from the season

is this what we have become? after last year probably
next year we have to be in the playoff race. - SabresFaninIndiana
Yeah, it's tough. I still don't know what to make of the last part of this season. Yes, they've played better, but that doesn't always translate to success in the following season, especially given how thin the team is, especially up front and in goal.
That being said, for poops and giggles:
One point back of Detroit, but the Red Wings have two games in hand.
Buffalo's remaining schedule:
St. Louis
Philadelphia
@Philadelphia
@New Jersey
NY Islanders
@Boston
Chicago
Detroit's remaining schedule:
@Carolina
@NY Rangers
Florida
@Tampa
@Florida
Pittsburgh
@ New Jersey
@Toronto
@New Jersey
Detroit has an absolute death march coming up, and their road record is atrocious (only 10 wins). I think the Sabres end up ahead of them.

Not by me.
There's people on here still talking about Drury, Briere, RoR and Lehner...so I'd say there are a lot higher ranking unhealthy obsessions here. Additionally, we have Vegas' pick, rooting for them to miss the playoffs seems like good fanhood to me.
And that was not a penalty, it was a good goal though. |

as long as we are 30 points behind the 4th place team in our division, it's another blah year |

It's true, but we are making gains here. You can justifiably gripe about the place of the team, but this is the best group of young players the franchise has had since Vanek/Roy/Connolly/Pommer came up. |

Given the college kids going back to school, Husso would be a great add. |

I dont want them to touch Husso.
That's a bad contract waiting to happen. |

I think this young core is more mature then the core of roy, vanek, pommer, connolly, max etc
so there is that

Could not disagree more. This year was never ever ever ever about how many points we got. We needed to see everything trending up and I think that has gone as well as anyone could have reasonably hoped. If you really wanted to measure how we are against the other teams I think it would be fair to do so over the last 3 months when the roster came together and Anderson got healthy.
Next year we can start to measure ourselves against the other teams in terms of points now that the bulk of our roster is set and the kids have some more experience.

We'll see. The problem stories didn't start leaking out until they tasted real success and got their paydays. Most of this core is still on rookie deals.

If Adams doesn't come away with a G this offseason it's because he doesn't want to. There's some RFA'S that should be looked at to. |

I, along with others, had them as a tankesque 20-win team. 30 wins is 50% above my September thought on the team. When healthy, this team has competed with anyone they've played. They, along with LV, have lost the most man games to injury in the league. They have also had among the very worst goaltending in the league. Clearly they have a lot of warts, but you have to be blind to not consider the season as a whole as a success.
In no order:
The revitalization of the fanbase. It's real. Im dropping by the window tonight and buying one. I think it's another special night in the arena tonight, and WARM WEATHER HOME GAME!
1st line goodness. Nobody had us coming out of the year with a 1st line who can play anybody. Imagine Tuch, who is +1 in 43 games, on the line all year.
Dahlin arrives. 20 games into the season we were all shaking our heads and wondering. Now, we'd all lock him for 10 years.
2 defensive pairs. Can we really have 2 locked D pairs all this young?
Secondary scoring. Okposo, Vinnie, Vic, Krebs and Mitts of late have all produced enough to keep teams honest, and the 1st line produces regardless.
Responsible young forwards. Cozens and Asplund both have the look young defensive forwards. Cozens has the added bonus of being part psycho. Even Mitts in his recent bout of good play has looked responsible.
Solid coaching. Olofsson playing injured aside, I have no major complaint here. They unleashed Tage and Dahlin, developed Samuelsson, Cozens, Krebs, Asplund and Mitts.
