depends on how you define tank. my definition is probably different than what other people perceive the Sabres are doing. But if yours is 'go all out to win no matter what', then yes, they'll tank next year. - TheSabresTaco

I was listening via audacy and got all excited when called that too. I love John and Susan. You ain't gettin a nuts and bolts baseball call, but they're so much fun. |

if we are taking that contract for quick i would think we are giving a 3rd and getting a 2nd.. but maybe i am full of crap - SabresFaninIndiana
they have no 'need' to move him. not at this point at least. He's been honestly good this year, I don't think they're paying anyone to take him. imo.

What do you consider a multi-year deal? More than one season? More than two?
Why would Adams for sure not bring in a goalie on a 2 or 3 year deal? - kingcong39
I meant to clarify that. I would say 3+ years as a decent definition.
Two years is certainly an option I would say. 3 plus is a commitment that our prospects may frown upon. |

13 have already played 50 this season.. probably about 2 or 3 more will surpass that by the end of the season.. - SabresFaninIndiana
playing 50 games is different from consistently playing 50 games well though |

A 3rd and a B prospect for a starting goalie?
how do ya figure, sports fan? - TheSabresTaco
- He's going to be 37 in the middle of next season
- Him being pretty good this season is a 906 save percentage
- He's a pending UFA
Why help the Kings out, and why bring in yet another old stop gap on a one year deal? |

Yeah, John Sterling's call is one of the most iconic in sports. Still funny though. There was also the time last year when he was calling the game remotely and the TV feed showed a Homerun from earlier in the game and he thought it was live. |

Think we can convince Samsonov or Kahkonen to sign a 1yr $4M deal to keep OS compensation down? If not, think either team takes a 2nd for them in return? We can pay obviously, but a 1st and 3rd for us is too much after we get over that 4.1M hump. |

take a look at the goalie GARs for this season. Isolated, he's been good. On a poopty team. Way better than anything we have.
I hardly consider it helping them. It's mutual. They get something for their pending UFA, we pay a fair price for a splits goalie. I mean if you think it should be more of a 4th or 5th or just a 3rd, fair enough. I just believe he has at least some value. Especially to a team like the Sabres, who is absolutely looking for a quality short term high priced stop gap that gives the team a chance to win every night. |

One of the prospects would not sign and will be an FA after his next college season.
Another did not sign and went back to school, but will hopefully sign after next college season.
The 3rd prospect has had injury and consistency issues, and we have no idea if he can hold up to a season long NHL workload and play well.
If they're worried about hurting prospects feeling, what the hell kind of team are they? |

The kind of team that wants their goalie prospects to see opportunity by signing instead of being Cal Petersen.

If he had 2 seasons left on his deal instead of one, maybe.
The Sabres should be done with short term options that are akin to kicking the can down the road, but that's only if they play on being a real team next season, which they don't seem to be interested in. |

Ironically, if Cal had waited two years (perfect AHL seasoning) the crease most likely would have been his.
Levi is 3 years away. Sign or trade for the goalie. |

Then why are they trying to move him? - ImThatGuy
Because Anaheim thinks they can get a haul for him, they're rebuilding, and they like their other goaltending options. |

they're not. a good portion of their team, long term, is in this organization right now. I mean he's not moving the top kids for good vets. So, here we are.
The type of goalie.. age, term and ability.. that we acquire will be a giant signal to their 2-3 year plan.
