Thoughts on Aiden Hill from Sam Jose
Big goalie
Still young
Decent numbers
Imagine he's odd man out
Cost
Shouldn't be high - Anderdog
he has OK numbers but has never stuck in the NHL.. couldn't stay in 'zona... might be worth a sign but not the answer (should be better than toker and dell combined) |

give them the rights to Portillo - homiedclown
That seems to much to me
Thinking more like a 4 th rounder
And unless portilo has come out and said iam not signing with us
I wouldn't move him
And yes IAM aware of gerbes comments
Was wondering if language may have said something about Rochester or buffalo only
Maybe he wanted to play in Sweden if not in NHL
Just a thought

Is there room for at least one forward addition to the team if it's via UFA and not via trade?
Doesn't look like there is based on last night's lineup and the 2 obvious additions that will happen next season.
Skinner-Thompson-Tuch
Asplund-Mittelstadt-Olofsson
Peterka-Cozens-Quinn
Girgensons-Krebs-Okposo - kingcong39
Krebs on a checking line sticks out. That doesn't really work. They need to make some long term decisions and make a hockey trade. All starts with some time-pressured VO decisions.

The logical move would be to shift Asplund to the Girgensons - Okposo line and move Krebs to the Mittelstadt - Olofsson line, but Asplund works too well with a pair of players that need help defensively. |

It also means Asplund can quietly work just about anywhere and covers up for a deficiency in this lineup. If Mitts + VO need to be sheltered and covered for with Asplund, it makes you question them. The way the team is constructed, the 4th line is going to take 90% dzone starts and forced to play a bit too much....something we're very familiar with.

Trade VO and a first for a goalie.
Move Asplund down to center the Larry line.
Sign Niederreiter for top 6.
Sign Olli Maata for the 3rd pair.
Win. |

After the Sabres 2nd goal the Blues have gotten noticeably more physical in three shifts. Not dominating play or anything, but finishing every check. I'm guessing they got an earful after Tuch scored. - lacaprup
Continuing on.
Blues goal 3. This looks like a harmless entry until Joker and Eakin happen. First, Thomas is able to go through/around Joker on the left side. Joker stops at the goalpost and plays the front of the net as he should, and Power and Okposo close down on Thomas now in the right corner. Eakin, at this point, has come down too low but is circling back to the high slot to cover Buchnevich. He's way too late and Joker, who should be covering Tarasenko who is sneaking in the backdoor, is busy watching Thomas pass to Buchnevich who passes to wide open Tarasenko for a layup. Joker could and should have been laying him out.
CA way out of position and had no idea Tarasenko was there. Bad bad job by all named Sabres. No one won a battle or made a play.

Mitts Olofsson and Skinn, with Butcher and Fitz had one of the best shifts of the game. VO played a 200 foot game from what I see. Mitts might have been our best player overall. And Asplund was great too. |

Making their 3rd appearance, another great Mitts line shift with 4 shot attempts in 35 seconds of dominating puck possession...again featuring the defensive pair of Butcher and Fitz. It starts with a zone entry by Mitts at 11:37 and goes through a cycle with two wide shots and a Butcher skud missile of the post at 11:14 that rebounded all the way to the Sabres zone. Butcher immediately catches everyone in a line change and sends a pass up to Mitts at the blueline who feeds a fresh Krebs for a breakaway. He gets robbed like every other Sabre tonight.
Another great 45 seconds for the Mitts line and Butcher/Fitz.

9:01. Joker chips one up to Tage who immediately hits Tuch on a tape to tape outlet for a break, and he gets robbed.
We're losing 3 - 2 and should be up 6 - 1 |
