Okay 50 of 60 minutes.
The Sabres are still not a good hockey team which is the point. They have a lot of work to do to be able to compete with Carolina, Tampa, Florida. - ImThatGuy

Is there really someone that much better at 6OA than 8OA.
Enough of a difference maker , too root agaisnt continuity for a change?
Were not gonna be 1-5 unless we win the lottery.
I kinds thought it was wright and a guy or 2.
Then 5- 7 more equal players - Boss34
Picking 6th over 8th ensures you get your guy.
It’s also possible Nemec or Jiricek are still there at 6 and that would fill a huge organizational need that we have. |

With all due respect, winning a few extra games in March doesn’t really accomplish much. There is no corrleation between winning games in March and future years.
If I’m not mistaken, the Sens had a run to end the year last year and it didn’t amount to much this season.
Making the ECF didn’t seem to do much for the Isles this year, and I’m sure their culture was great.
If the Sabres make the playoffs next year, it’s because of progression of their younger players and an infusion of further talent.
Win games and all of a sudden there will be a ton of “good culture”. - Pegullaville
Ok, yes I see that you really don’t get it.
It has nothing to do with a few extra wins in March or the guys they could’ve traded at the deadline for scrap picks that may become golden tickets some day.
No one has ever said culture will overcome having a lack of good players.
“If the Sabres make the playoffs next year, it’s becausae of progression of their younger players and an infusion of further talent.”
And the right culture surrounding them will take them from a good group of talented players to a talented team that is a force to reckon with every game.

Why not, seen teams dominate and still lose because of a hot goalie. |

Good Post Rat!! Think it depends on the players you have described and the ones Pegs is talking about not having much to do with that. |

Um, you're still losing by 2 goals.
Your goalie could be hotter than dog's breath, guys are losing some kind of battles, which results in goals, which is not dominating.

Mark Pysyk was a healthy scratch today. Someone else will get the seat for Power on Tuesday.
That could have been two draft picks right there even if they are two lotto picks at the end of the draft.
Tyson Kozak is having a great year in the WHl this year.
Constantini, Huglen, Nadeau all look good and may have a shot at wearing a Sabre sweater.
Weissbach and Olofsson were 7th round picks.
I’ll never understand not accumulating assets.

FIFY
“Trading Devon Levi and a first rounder for a 70 point forward with high end defensive impacts that plays in the middle 6 and ascending to elite status can be quantified.”
I kid I kid.
You win man, I’m tired.
Culture be damned, the more high end talent you have, the better your team.

Why does it matter what the Islanders do, the Sabres should be filling the cupboards. Some of these UFA'S aren't coming back, if offers were made they should have been moved. |

If.
Were teams knocking down the door for Eakin? And if so, whyyyyy?
There's no way Miller and Butcher were being moved. They were literally just off the IR.
If they wanted to keep Vinnie and Pisser around for their decent play and influence on the youngsters, I have zero issues w that.
Other than that, what deals were there to be made? |

Since being over a PPG for 20 games Tuch has 11 points in his last 22 games.
I think the new team adrenaline wore off.
Hopefully when he’s a 50 point second liner next year he doesn’t get run out of town by the people who anointed him far too quickly this season |

Well that's kinda why I said if. And this is about what Pegs said and he's wasn't wrong in some ways. If offers were made even 6th rnd picks they should have been taken. It's still a asset for someone who isn't gonna be back. |

You could argue that there's little between any of the top 6 to 7.
Wright is the number 1, but the next 5 to 6 are very close.
Not dissimilar from last year's draft where there was a consensus number 1 but quite a few after that were closely grouped. |

I would put the chances that either of Nemec or Jiricek are available at 6 at 1%, and honestly, 0% chance.
I'm not sure either will be available at 4. |

You keep jumping in on my responses to other posters. Which is fine, but .....
Peg'sville said
"Every other business acquires assets"
I pointed out the islanders are a business and did not make a move to acquire assets.
I could careless what they do. But peg'sville is incorrect (again)

Tuch is the kind of player we've wanted for a long time. High effort, physical, two way, with some offense...and relatively hometown. Are people ever going to turn on that?

So......you want 5th, 6th, 7th round picks that might play for us in 3 or 4 years, if they even make it to the NHL? The lengths you'll go to double down on your bullpoop is astounding. Weissback can't crack the Sabres and 71 took 5 years to play for us full-time. |
