I'd pump the breaks on Raddysh a bit. He had 2 horrendous shifts back to back in the 3rd where he was exposed playing with Kane and DeBrincat. Threw a pass well behind DeBrincat for an easy zone exit, and then had a quick tic-tac-toe play where the puck literally exploded off his stick entering the zone and another possession killer. Way early....but there is a reason Tampa gave up on him early. Lets see if he can become a depth scorer ie...top 9 f. - SteveRain
I wouldn't say Tampa gave up on him. He is probably as 2nd/3rd line tweener that gets you 40-45pts or so. Haven't watched in a few games but is he still around the net in the ozone? Hawks need more guys that do that consistently (and actually know how to tip pucks and screen goalies properly).

Alec Regula, who the Blackhawks recalled today, and Connie Murphy are among those participating in the optional morning skate.
Did someone get injured? Curious why Regula would be up. |

This is my biggest problem with the Hawks. Line juggling worked during the cup years because it was the same main guys year in year out.
It does not work when no one has chemistry together. There is a reason Dcat and Strome look good together and duh a reason why adding Raddysh makes it even better. They all played in Jrs and prob roomed together, etc.
Chemistry matters so much in team sports. - bhawks2241
but what happens when you lose 7 srtaight, and you only have one line working?

Fire the coach, and set up the interim to fail.
Hey, at least King gave them a glimmer of hope when he first came on board. Maybe the Hawks just need to start having fun again? |

For the 1st time since he was acquired he looked over his (Raddysh) skis on a few shifts late in the game where the hawks were pressing. That was the main thing I was pointing out. I agree on the tweener type player...Versteeg like.
I also agree to your point on line chemistry. I still think the largest obstacle this coaching staff faces is they have very skill guys on this roster who can produce consistently, and have far too many passengers who require elite players to help carry them. So does King load up or does he try and spread it out? I think both options have their pros and cons. |

Meh, take it where you can get it. If they could find a way to get a few more picks in next years draft that would be neat as well.
I think the value of getting firsts from competing teams for the 2023 draft is that it will be deep so picking in the top 10 isn't necessarily relevant but if they could get 4 picks between 15 and 50 then that would be where the real value is. - fattybeef
Hawks would need some tradeable talent, most likely on an expiring contract, to get a 1st from a contender next TDL. I doubt if the likes of Murphy, McCabe or Strome would get that. The only players the Hawk have on their roster now that will fetch a 1st are Kane and Debrincat. KD may have to spend this summer to land an UFA with playoff experience that fits the bill.
Here's a list from capfriendly of upcoming UFA's.
https://www.capfriendly.c...s/2023/caphit/all/all/ufa
Phil Kessel? Reilly Smith? Ondrej Palat? Will they take a one year contract for around 3M to 5M?

Wagon Wheel was more of a figure skating rink than hockey. Olympian Janet Lynn came out of there. I don’t remember the Cardinals. I skated there, but my recollection was it was during the summer. - scottak
I think this is the same place that I went to hockey camp. Campbell Power Skating or something like that.
I remember that first 2 days were brutal. I had just bought a new pair of skates from Gunzo's and they killed my feet. I barely had them laced up the first few days. |

So what's the magic number of games of played for Dach to be still "developing"
I am just curious as it seems to be a moving target.... - SteveRain
Nah but it's more than 150 games. I like between 200 to 300 games for forwards , and Rico posted something where it takes even longer for taller players. |

Less the games and more so the injury that interrupted things. Wrist injuries are tough. It took Patrick Kane most of a season to get over his wrist surgery (albeit he was also playing center and dragged that team into the playoffs the last 20 or so games when they backed in). Matthews had a rough first month but of course has bounced back.
I'm also confused about what people expect from the player. He wasn't a barn burner in the WHL, has never been a physically dominating force and has no lead in his ass. 6'4 197 is not big. He's a beanpole and doesn't have the explosive speed or hands to justify that size.
He's on pace with his production his rookie year which should be expected after missing most of last year because some bozo let him play in a kids tournament.
Next year you'd hope to see some sign of life and flashes of a ceiling. By 2023-2024 what you see is probably going to be what you'll get.
He could very well just turn out to be an average NHL player which is what he is right now. Should know for sure sometime in the next year and a half. |

TSN had the power 50 prospects we had 1 at # 44 if that gives you a idea of were or prospect pool ranks. |

Yea, those are just opinions, i think Boqvist was rated as a top 10 prospect at one point. So lists are great but give me someone who watches every minor league game in every division and every college game and every Swiss league game, German league game, Russian league game.... it's just impossible, hell didn't even hear about Panarin that much until a year before he came to the Blackhawks and he definitely should of been a top 5 if not the top prospect not playing in the NHL |

I think most of those lists are based largely on either past history or some preconceived notion. Beaudin is not the 2nd best prospect right now, but he was a former 1st rd pick. I'm just hoping that they let these kids actually develop. Not everyone can crack the NHL at age 21. |

I think so too, when they come out with those lists id love to know how many actually hours of hockey they actually watched of these kids, my guess is not much. |

Lets see how the Hawks do against a very desperate LA Kings team. Losers of 3 straight, now fighting for a playoff spot, and have learned that Doughty is out for the rest of the year. |

Rockford is in a playoff race; it would be great if Lukas was there gaining from the experience.
The Hawks are going nowhere fast, and Lukas is up in the Show burning a year off his ELC.
Good thing KD is GM; if Stan was pulling that crap this place would have 15 pages per day lighting him up (rightly, in this case).
The organization is still absolutely broken. |

Boquist has 11 goals in 48 games (that would be over 18 in a 80 game season) at 21 that is pretty solid production at the NHL level.
are there any prospects of ours that you think should be in the top 50? I cant think of any that are even close outside of lukas who they have at 44.

You'd want him up playing in these games now so that he gets a bit of a shock regarding the pace of the NHL so that he can have a more productive off season.
Failing now, having the summer to work on it and then coming back in the fall with a better idea of where he needs to be is probably better for the player then continuing to bum slay the AHL. |

I don't think this matters one bit. It's not like they need his contract to be ultra small. If he is worth his salt, he will end up getting paid anyway.
I've through about Reichel being with the Hawks. I want him in Rockford because of their playoff situation, and I don't want him to get entirely flustered playing with this collection of stiffs. Now, as long as he is getting minutes, I don't really care. |
