So what's the magic number of games of played for Dach to be still "developing"
I am just curious as it seems to be a moving target.... - SteveRain
https://dobberhockey.com/...opment-and-the-8020-rule/
A pretty good read here. I'm a Dobber guy and his research over the yrs has it at 200 and 400 games depending on the player's size and position.
Forwards under 6-3 or 215 plus pounds require: in or around 200 NHL regular season games to show us their breakthrough season. Breakthrough for me means they beat their best season to date by at least 25%.
For defensemen and forwards 6-3 or taller and/or 215-plus pounds, the games needed to achieve this breakthrough is: 400. Twice as long. Most will get that it takes far longer for defensemen to learn the game and be given the ice time they need to be successful offensively, in most cases 80% need to become sound defensively before earning the offensive opportunities available with their respective teams. |

By then the Hawks will be in their retooling phase - LAHawk
These tournaments for 15/16 yr olds are some great hockey. Just watched the 06 selection camp for the NTP and it was some of the best hockey I've seen this yr. Spirted and extremely skilled.
I'd expect plenty of Hawk representation at these kinds of tournaments. This tournament, the NTDP selection camp, the CHL top prospects games along with juniors playoffs starting this is a very important and bust time for NHL organIzations.
This is when players make lists.

The Blackhawks' defensive coverage has been shoddy recently.
That's partially because the Hawks' D have been chasing their marks too high, like they did under Colliton, rather than switching off to forwards, like King wants them to do.

Yeah I was watching that game and just thinking how many legit players do they have that would be on a playoff contender. I didn't come up with many.
I am already assuming another 3-5 bad more years...maybe year 5 they get tease us but they have a TON of holes....
IMO.....holes are
2-3 top 6 players...including 1c and 2c
3 top 4 d men
NHL goalie
Depth guys galore.....
So yeah, they are going to be bad for the foreseeable future. - SteveRain
Post of the night, buddy!
That's why I think they will dangle some off the little kiddiecorp with a forward if they can find a disgruntled pro on some other team...I say 15 years until they challenge unless they hit with a #1. overall.
Just look at the Wings...Cup winners to a non-playoff team and they are STILL WAITING FOR MORE OF THE DRAFTED PIECES to solidify and get up that notch to even a sniff at a playoff spot. |

Our next opponent, the LA Kings, have employed four rookies on their blueline and have won often enough to still be in the playoff chase
Obviously the rookies are receiving better coaching as well as a better team effort, defensively, than the nightmare witnessed by Blackhawk fans this season..
Below is the critical information on the Kings dmen. Perhaps next season or beyond the Blackhawks may have the Kings youngsters sort.of replicated
The veterans:
Maata 17:00 TOI, Stecher 20:51 TOI; Doughty out injured.
The kids:
Durzi. 21:24 TOI, 2018 #2 round 52nd
Bjornfot. 12;49 TOI, 2019 #1 round 22nd
Spence 22:04 TOI, 2019 #4roumd 95thno
M Moore. 22:32. TOO. 2015 7thround 194th
The White Sox many years ago had an advertisement for the upcoming season which read: The kids will be alright
The Kings kids are getting it done. Tr Yawney is their defense coach.
The Kings also have.Kopitar and Daneault as centers so that alone is better than Chicago |

Rockford is in a playoff race; it would be great if Lukas was there gaining from the experience.
The Hawks are going nowhere fast, and Lukas is up in the Show burning a year off his ELC.
Good thing KD is GM; if Stan was pulling that crap this place would have 15 pages per day lighting him up (rightly, in this case).
The organization is still absolutely broken. - mohel

And 22 yr old 4th rd pick Mikey Anderdson was paired with Doughty before he got hurt. ....... USHL kid. https://www.eliteprospect...yer/201512/mikey-anderson
The few times I've seen Durzi he's noticeable. Kid has games where he has 5 hits and 6 blocks and is running the #1 PP since Doughty went down. Fun player.
Soon enough we'll know just how much of a tear down KD has in store as he rebuilds the front office, scouting department and analytics department. Much to do for the 33 yr old rookie GM.

Some buzz happening with Del Mastro, good to hear - BetweenTheDots
Here's my profile prior to being drafted. He has added much to his game:
Big strong defenseman who gets up and down the sheet easily. Outmuscles the opposing players for pucks, and won't be moved from his anchor when in front of his crease. Don't try and take advantage of his teammates with cheapies, because he erupts into a Hulk-like mean streak. Is effective with the puck, quickly advancing it and finding passing lanes in transition, quickly hitting his outlets. Uses his long stick and reach to snag loose pucks out of traffic. Places hard shots on net from the blue line. Pinches to sustain pressure. Must work on his lateral agility, but he is a hockey player. Was a member of the Canada’s 2021 IIHF Under-18 World Championship team. |

So broken...by any - HawkintheDobjective measure.
Kinda sad in a way, D. 5 yrs ago your little group had 8-9-10 guys to formulate a plan, get your talking points in order and come over to HB and execute attacks on a target. Big fun back in the day but now you're down to only 2-3 of your "group".
Little bit sad to see old gang whittled down to just a couple truth tellers.
But fear not D and Mo, just like 5-10 yrs ago I'm here for you yesterday, today and tomorrow and I'm still drinkin alone. I'm your huckleberry.
Hawks are rebuilding the front office, scouting department, analytics department, the pipeline has 1 legit forward prospect, probably no 1st rotation Dmen prospects, maybe 2-3 legit top 6 forwards and 1 1st pairing Dmen on the NHL roster with a 33 yr old rookie GM to fix all of that who reports to a guy who promoted and extended the guy last summer who ran the franchise into the ground while not making the playoffs and simultaneously emptied the prospect pool.

Sean Durzi is a perfect example what Tallon & Foley were attempting to say with being in a situation where you can gain confidence and start excelling.
Like forward Shawsy, he wasn't taken until his 3rd draft eligible year.
I think the Leafs were who took him late in the second.even after 3 full years in the OHL, he still stayed a fourth year.
My pre-draft report on Sean Durzi:
A third year eliglble defenseman prospect who had a great start. Suffered a high ankle sprain that kept him out 25 games, but still managed 15 goals and 49 points in 40 season games. Has an excellent playoff until the loaded Sault Ste Marie juggernaut beat them 4-3 in the second round. A top penalty killer and power play guy. Has developed into a top end puck mover who has confidence in his decisions. Makes his team's transition game click. Not too shabby understanding his own end either.
If a team had selected him earlier and suggest his third year/fourth year he play the AHL, he might not have been ready for minor pro, and not been the confident 23 year old[ (24 in October)/b] defenseman he is now. He has got edge, still has trouble handling pucks in his end but I noticed him every time I saw him too, because he is a good mailman (carrier).
Two FULL YEARS in the American Hockey league after 4 junior seasons.
He's "only" a solid six foot, 187.
Doing this as purely a mental exercise but Caleb Joines is 24, Riley Stillman is 24, and all the other prospect defenseman are younger:
Allan, Nolan 18 RD
Del Mastro, 19 LD
Kaiser, Wyatt 19 LD
Krutil, Michael 19 RD
Vlasic, Alex 20 LD (LhRD)
Crevier, Louis 20 RD
Phillips, Isaak 20 LD (LhRD)
Kelley, Connor 20 RD
Harding, Taige 20 LD
Regula, Alec 21 RD (RhLD)
Galvas, Jakub 22 LD (LhRD)
Beaudin, Nicolas 22 LD
Demin, Stanislav 22 LD
Filip Roos LD 23.
Mitchell, Ian RD 23. (Roos and Mitchell 13 days apart with Mitchell older)
Ess, Josh lD 23
The entire point of me displaying all this as they get older you HAVE to make decisions on them, but there is no reason to not let things play out and as fans be patient that this group supplies a huge backbone of a future backline. |

Don't really need more than myself to refute your tired and dumb narrative Rico.
From your own post they are trying to rebuild. If they were truly broken, wouldn't they be just be doing the same old thing? I know, Cups don't count and it's "What have you done for me lately?" but to read your posts the Hawks are equivalent to the Bears with a trophy 30+ years in the rearview.
Keep spinning your broken record though Rico and maybe someday if you say it often enough you'll get some other mopes to join you. |
