Wiz here is question for you. Say hawks get the 1st overall pick if were the gm of the Hawks who are you taking?
- Scott1977

If the win this year it is very easy, you select Shane Wright , a right shooting center who you can play anywhere, any forward position (as they did in World Junior)
You get a kid who is the closest to ready to play in the draft.

He is a great offensive set up guy, but also has a lethal quick release, he is almost 190 lbs. and six one.

He has 30 plus goals and 60 plus assists and pre-Covid, he had 39 goals.
He is a skilled player who has what they need: a nose for the scoring chances.
He might flourish in the pro game with

If the Hawks were to be so fortunate to select in the top spot in 2022, you have three guys that may be long term NHL stars, but the best one, little Matvei Michkov (one of the best junior players I have ever seen)is signed by SKA Russia like Kirill Kaprizov, and in as much there is no rush for a Cup run, no team wants a top with only one year entry level deal and have to bring a Brink's truck out the second year to0 get him to come back.
The kid with Chicago Steel, Adam Fantilli, is the real deal, 6 foot one, 188 already , and will have all of next season to attempt to unseat the other big name, Connor Bedard.
He is only going to be 5' 10" 180 (Bobby Hull's size) but does everything at a fast skilled level. Quote: "He was the youngest player in the World Junior tournament, has shown to a worldwide hockey audience what made him the first -- and to this day, the only -- player to earn exceptional status into the WHL. Certainly not a 13th man there in case of injury. He's got McDavid speed with Syd's frame. Shoot right and certainly is able to frazzle defenders with an array of moves.
There could eventually be three stars in 2022, but Shane Wright is no rotten sack of potatoes.

Sean Durzi is a perfect example what Tallon & Foley were attempting to say with being in a situation where you can gain confidence and start excelling.
Like forward Shawsy, he wasn't taken until his 3rd draft eligible year.

.

Did not know this!! With the Covid and shortened or cancelled junior seasons probably a lot of under the radar gems to be unearthed in the next couple yrs?

Look forward to watching Durzi and the Kings in a must win game. Not the Kings of 4-5 yrs ago, this group has some speed..... Quick v Delia.

You think Petersen has it in him to be a #1?
- Mr Ricochet

The game HAS changed radically from when I was a kid in the sixties, but so many of those star goalies N EVER saw NHL ice until they were 30.

Different time and I know youngster are so better prepared to be netminders- but,] it takes time.

Example is the guy in Calgary,
Jacob Markstrom

He's 32 and how many teams have let him go?

Florida and Vancouver

I'm here for you and your crew if you happen to read one of my tired thoughts and care to formulate a plan with the fellas and respond, D.
- Mr Ricochet

Just me Rico. I know it makes it easier for you to think you're losing the argument because it's a group attack and it's a great defense mechanism when you spout a bunch of stupid poop to talk about how the "Posse" is ganging up on you.

Sorry, it's just not the case. But whatever puts your mind and narratives at ease. I'm here for you too buddy.

Kid was playoff MVP on the cup team as a 16 yr old last yr. His game has changed as a 17 yr old. In a word much much more physical. Kid steps in for teammates all the time and fights.

Looking like he may develop into a Landeskog type with elite skill and a lotta grit added to his package. ........ Going to Michigan for his draft yr next yr.

And yea, the 2023 draft will be a really good one and if they somehow land Bedard that'll take a yr off anyone's rebuild. A certifiable freak.

You have a thought on draft eligible Slovak goalie Rastislav Elias? Was lights out for the Slovak 2020/21 U-18 WJC team that had all those Slovaks looking to go in rd 1 in this yrs draft? .... I'm a fan. Kid came to USHL Green Bay this yr and the league lit him up as they do most 18 yr old goalies. New country, small surface and the kid fell in the rankings but IMO a prime candidate to take a late swing on. Kid was playing U-20 as a 16 yr old and putting up numbers. https://www.eliteprospect...er/537895/rastislav-elias

LA, you watch the Kings often, I believe. Do you think Kopitar is still their best forward?

Kings 4th line all rookies, Byfield-Kumpari-Villardi. I really like Kumpari. Villardi is held back by back issues.

I do but Danault sure lightens his load, especially defensively.

Why was McCabe on the right wing boards? Second time tonight, this time didn’t get away with it.

Regula takes a hit to make a play, streers a guy into the boards, not so bad so far.

Some nice passes out of the zone, miss those a lot, got a nice shot

I like that he just put it on net on the PP and was able to get his shot(s) through.

10 games left and it still looks like a Chinese fire drill. Not sure if it is only Toews or every single player on the Hawks does not know where they are supposed to be in our zone.

The veteran’s don’t care, they are going to do what they want. Play out the season. They aren’t going to listen to a lame duck coach.

I agree, had a shot took it twice, can appreciate that. I like Seth Jones but there are times, comes on the 2nd half of the PP and i guess he thought Reichel was open, illadvised pass, Blackhawks have to set up again in the ozone, wasted precious PP seconds with really a dumb decision
