We finally have a decent coach running along at a .650% winning clip...a player on pace for 100 points...4 bonafide superstars on the club...and the champs want a full teardown this summer. You honestly can't get that diverse of thinking on all the various levels if you applied all the HB threads together. Remarkable. - LordHumungous
I am hoping they give the d a nice makeover, long overdue |

Serious question. Would you hang onto Myers for another year and a half if it meant the same sort of return Chiarot got at the TDL? |

Well, we did trade a 5th overall pick for him. - Load Management
But Jim was an idiot so there is that. |

They're up 3 zip in the 3rd. I think it's safe to hop off the bandwagon and start cheering for long term injuries. |

In this hypothetical, what would Myers fetch if you traded him this offseason? Just seeing the difference in return.
Like you've mentioned, the UFA for RHD is thin and will be overpriced. We basically need two top 4 RHD... Myers fills the number 4/5 role, but at an overpayment. |

I honestly have no clue what he fetches this offseason. But there seems to be a willingness to pay a higher premium on expiring contracts at the TDL. Which is part of the rationale to hold onto him.
Just by kinda extrapolating the Chiarot deal, let's say a high 2nd and a prospect would be the minimum. |

Of course, he's going to get more at the TDL on an expiring deal, especially at half retained. No GM in their right mind would want Myers at 6 mil a season
If it was this season at a 2nd and prospect, vs 1.5 seasons from now at a 1st, prospect, and 4th, I would trade him this season. You're getting potentially 2 years sooner development for the pick and prospect, plus cap space for trades/signings this season and/or next. |

No, but remodeling the D requires movement of assets. Just trying to further that discussion. |

One of the dumbest things you've ever said on here.... Bo has been on fire and not at all likely to take his foot off the gas if uninjured. Bo finds another gear in the playoffs and led goal scoring almost 2 full rounds after their exit last time. This is the time of the year he really shines.

I can think of one.😁
I can see the merits in going either route. In my mind, if Miller doesn't want to re-up, that makes the latter path more desirable. I'm not into trading Myers just to pay Boeser though. |

I think since the coaching change the D has been very good overall. It has some games where they look bad like every other team but overall we are competing close to the top teams.
I really don't think there will be major shake ups for many reasons . The league cap issue is top of my list and maybe next this is a pretty good team. Add another scorer and I think we jump up.
I can see Myers as you mentioned on his final year at TDL being moved but like you said a day ago if you are moving players you need to replace them.
I think Canucks will be in the mix next year and I don't see them trading off big names. That is my take.

true, but if there’s a deal in place in the off season then a Bird in the Hand is Worth Two in the Bush. |

Kind of like your paragraph that you started the whole conversation with.
Now, we can lay that idea of yours to bed. Hopefully it never returns 😂 - manvanfan
You still haven’t provided a good reason why not, just that you don’t like it. If I understand it correctly, your plan is to rebuild the D through the draft, which will take some non-linear, arbitrary amount of time where you will assemble four non-Hedmans. Basically, patience?
I’m good with that. If only there had been patience last year, and the year before. |

I think the team is pretty good. Elite goaltending. Realistically a 100 point scorer and 3 potential 30 goal scorers. Quinn Hughes looking like he's going to break a record for a Canuck defensemen. That a solid group right there and they have some decent support. The depth everyone poops on has been doing incredibly well through all these injuries.
The unravelling may have to do with the room to improve with the cap situation being left to the new management. That is the biggest issue moving forward. |

Not if i could move him without retaining salary in the summer. Im all for selling high, Miller and Myers have both played well this year. If they cant move him now, hope he can keep it up and ya you aim at a tdl sell. |

I really think the first thread to unravel this offseason is determining what JTM has planned for his future. If it includes the Canucks, at what price. |

If there was a lot to do them some of it would have been done at the deadline.
They are selling out crowds game after game. Canucks are the most popular thing in all of Vancouver . Team is making tons of money . They are playing 600 hockey. I don't think they view it as bad as people on social media and hockey sites think.
I think they will sign JTM on a 5x8 . Bo on a 6 x 7.5 and even Brock could get a 4 x 6.
Until they are gone they are not. As a season ticket holder I would be pissed to be on a playoff run and have JTM traded for a 1 & 3 and keeping Jason D1ckonson . You find a way to fit them in your cap .

Which means you are moving some valuable assets to address that.
I don't think it's a very good team, there are some decent players but this team was put together with no plan beyond the following year. |
