Good first period. I thought Toronto had the edge but I'm happy the Sens were able to capitalize on a couple of their chances.
I like Stutzle and he's playing well but somebody needs to sit him down and tell him not to pull that European sh_t because it's going to come back and hurt both him and the team. There will be important times when real penalties won't get called because of his nonsense. Play the game properly otherwise you're just going to embarrass us. |

If Sens lose this game, it is solely on Zaitsev. I don't know if this stat exists, but I'd be interested to see the speed of passes. Zaitsev has to have the weakest pass of any D in the league. Unless there's an undisclosed injury, there's no excuse for his play (especially this game).
Stutzle and Tkachuk have been great so far. |

What a world class outfit the leafs are. And how it pains me to say that. Damn they look good.
I’m not paying to read Mendes tell stories I’ve already heard. The bits and pieces revealed here I already knew. Additionally the NDA’s that have been signed in this city are too many to count. So did they really “reveal” anything?
I like the sentiment of moving on.
The TSN 1200 radio silence is a little curious considering EM refused to talk to them. But I’m guessing they’re towing a TSN head office line. |

How perfect would a goal on that breakaway have been?
But he looks better with every game as he finds more confidence. A while back I asked if he would hit 50 points.
We know the answer now, I'll ask if 60 is within his reach ? |

It's not just Zaitsev. The whole D seems to not be entirely sure which team they're on and keep handing the puck over all over the ice but particularly in their own end to the guys wearing white sweaters.
Toronto was more hungry as a team whereas there were a couple or three Sens forwards just thinking offence when they were in their own zone and Batherson was the worst. They need to recognize that the D is for sh_t and help out a lot more defensively.
Tkachuk needs a skating coach badly. He can skate in a straight line well enough but anything else and he's awful. Even if he could develop some edge work and a pivot he would be so much more effective.
It was a fun game to watch with lots of action and a good tempo and I look forward to next year when the Sens will have an actual D core to even things out a little because the TO offense is really pretty good. |

Matthews is a lock for the Hart trophy, but there are times when Marner really drives this Leafs team. Man he’s good

Gaudette - 5:46
Tierney - 5:14
Mete - 2:42
...is... is Smith learning?? Were there injuries?? Mete was a forward tonight and had a horrible giveaway, but still. |

The TO cheerleaders calling the game and on the panel were pretty sickening to listen to. Hoping for another first round exit and if that's happening I'll tune in just to listen to them cry.
Sens should sign Stutzle long term ASAP - before we see next season. He'll be the team's number one C so don't give Norris number one C money. |

Exactly. I don't know wtf Dorion is doing but he should lock both he and Norris to 7/8 year deals at 7-7.5m |

Matthew Tkachuk will be 40 goal almost 100 point player. He is going to DEMAND 9.5m+ a season now.
I'm happy with Brady signing because I always thought Brady can do at least what Matthew does |

Matthews was a no show last night. We must be getting near playoff time. At one point announcers actually started whining over the fact that the Sens were on top of Matthews the entire game. Imagine what happens when he actually has to play against a tight defensive group come the playoffs.

Got up this morning thinking hockey is back.
Leaf whiners are agreeing with Gallagher and complaining that Stutzle purposely draws penalties. You know you have arrived when you get this kind of post game attention.
Would have liked for the Sens to have won the game last night....especially if Timmy had finished it off with a hat trick on his overtime breakaway.
Loved the CTC crowd, even the fans cheering for the Leafs.
My 3 Sens stars on the night were Timmy, Brady and Forsberg.
Several times during the game I thought about how different it might be if the Sens had Chabot to carry the puck out of his own end. And, then I thought about Sanderson and JBD and Thomson. We are going to be okay.
Did I ever mention how angry and upset I was with John Muckler over the Heatly for Hossa trade. He as much as said that a European player could never be as good as a top Canadian player. Have heard it said that the treatment of Hossa was the single most important factor that led to Chara leaving.
Perhaps it is just me but when I see this kid Stutzle dominating puck possession in the offensive zone, I can't help but think of Hossa. Hossa was a great young player. But, I don't know if he had the high end skills that Timmy shows when he is attacking the net.
Yesterday I heard someone say that Brady is the youngest NHL captain. And, then they asked if he was the best team captain in the league?
So much to feel good about this morning. |

I enjoyed the double glass slamb victory after the 1st stuztle goal. Cant remember who joined stutzle on that. Norris? But that is showmanship worthy of all time best goal celabrations.
The narrative of toronto not being able to compete against non playoff teams. The thing is those teams try and up their level to play against a top team for self respect. When playofffs role around that is the type of competition the leafs will face every night and against better teams. Can the leafs up their compete level ? I am Not sure because pure talent has let them dominate . We will see, who knows. The broadcasters were trying to spin that it is the bolts they want to meet first. In honesty they need a softer match like the bruins to gain some confidence. If they can prevail the 1st round. I do believe they can make it to the eastern finals and perhaps the cup final. |

I suppose. As you know, I grew up a Leaf fan. I learned how to live in denial. Need to be careful that I don't transfer my Leaf loser mentality into more years of false hope.
Last night was like a playoff game for the Sens. Leafs played really well. Stutzel and Marner put on a great show. Close to end of season and, as predicted, Matthews began practicing his no show playoff routine. |

So you could have picked any team in the league, and you chose the SENS??? LOL

Stutzle is very much looking like a really good number one C in the making. Having Stutzle, Norris, Pinto and Greig as your centers with Tkachuk and Batherson for sure making up 2 of your top six wings and Chabot and Sanderson as your top two D is quite good. Then you've got guys like Brown, Formenton, Zub, JBD, Thomson and Forsberg making up your second tier. Things are definitely looking up. |

Watching the Ottawa game last night, it made realize how great they can be in 2 years. Next year they should take a huge strides in hopefully becoming a playoff contender at minimum.
As for the Leafs, once teams focus on Matthews, in the playoffs, you will see Toronto struggle yet again, plus that kind of goaltending, lol. Enjoy the extra 10 days to your season Toronto lol.

It was awful to listen to the Sportsnet coverage, like there was only one team playing. Man if the Leafs lose in the first round, it would be glorious to watch those fools in Toronto squirm at the network, pathetic.

Just watch Toronto play Tampa in the first round and get shown what it's like to win in the playoffs. Matthews was totally shut down by the Sens on Saturday night, so I can only imagine what the 2 time Cup champs will do. |
