Wow Formenton again! Unreal!

But Gambrell and Kelly stuck out there for a 1:33 shift.....late 3rd period. DJ letting his players run the bench, what a joke!

Pretty clear example of a call that Stutzle didn't get there in OT... any other player, that's a tripping call.

Gustavsson looked pretty steady in the 3rd/OT... lots of ways the Canucks could have won that game, but he stood pretty tall despite the frequent nonsense going on in front of him.

And he didn't get much help from his D at times, Gus was solid!

I wonder how long this diver label is going to follow Stutzle around.

Tonight it didn't really matter because Ottawa didn't want control of the puck in overtime with Tkachuk just saying "Here Vancouver, I don't want it. Why don't you guys take it instead?"

Why the hell is Tkachuk out there in overtime anyway where the emphasis should be on skill and skating ability, neither of which does Tkachuk have? Norris, Stutzle, Batherson, Formenton, Brown, hell I'd even put Gaudette out there before Tkachuk. Same for the shootout. I'd put Zub out for the shootout before I'd choose Tkachuk.

In overtime the only guy who can skate on D is Brannstrom so you've got to go with him but I don't even like him because you know he's just going to turn the puck over so the Sens are pretty much screwed without Chabot.

The Sens had no business winning this game with Vancouver basically looking like they were playing with a two man powerplay for long stretches at a time. Vancouver sure looks like a playoff team now. Just goes to show what a good house cleaning can do for a team.

Man I can't wait for them to have an actual NHL defense. Here's hoping Sanderson lives up to expectations and that Thomson is as ready as people are saying he is. Together with Chabot and Zub that should make for a very competent top 4. Holden and Hamonic will be fine on the third pairing. Unless of course Smith is still coach in which case Sanderson and Thomson will spend the year in Belleville and Zaitsev and Brannstrom or MDZ will round out the top 4.

For now just hope for a win at the lottery.

When he's really good, people will forget it. Right now he has it, and it's more so the complaining. Crosby did the same thing.

He's adjusting to a different league and it takes a while. I also think being young he has to earn the calls (not saying I agree with that thinking).

And yes; fingers crossed for the lottery!!

Zaitsev with two points?
ELITE.

I will say that Tkachuk's skating speed going forward in a straight line is pretty damn good. He's a lot bigger than people think, and his leg stride allows him to cover a lot of ground. That being said....throw a corner at him and he's off the rails on his ass. Someone call Shelly Kettles, he needs some edge work.

At the time of the Gallagher comments, there was lots of dismissal from the Sens faithful regarding them. The comments should not have been taking lightly. Comments were heard all over the league and you could already see that Stu had a bit of a rep of going down easy. Sens fans, coaches, and players chose to ignore it, and this is where you end up. Stu won’t be getting the calls he once did.

It will be interesting to see what happens next season. A season of bulking up will help.

All in all, it’s a minor issue, but when calls start going uncalled during key points in the game because of a “rep” it can grow into a larger issue. Hopefully this is the peak of the issue now though and in 2 or 3 years’ time, it will be a distant memory.

While I'm all for making games interesting, turning the Montreal game into a "lets get Gallagher" circus is really beneath us. I seriously hope NOTHING happens in that game other than Price getting hung out to dry by his defense again.

Its usually a litlte bit of both in these situations. Stutzle will embellish a bit, and also draw tons of calls. You hear about this often with star players and it usually fizzles out over time. At least he isn't complaining to refs like others have in the past.

Then you'll get situations where he benefits from a bad / weak, call without any embellishment, and people will point to that as proof.

I'd strongly consider Keller, if Arizona would trade him. And i'm normally not a fan of trading top 10 picks.

Keller has scored 60+ points before. He could really fix the hole on the right wing, which I don't see anyone in the system fixing anytime soon.

It would give someone for Stutzle to play with on the second line.

Formenton Stutzle Keller

Issue as mentioed is Arizona may need to add salary. We could include Zaitsev I guess, but then they'd need to add even more.

So let's play the game.....Keller Offers!

I'll start....

From Ottawa: 1st rd pick 2022 (assuming 7 to 9), 4th rd 2023 pick, Brannstrom, Zaitsev, one other b prospect
From Ari: Keller

Thoughts? Counters?

May have to give them Sokolov or Gus in order for them to take Zaitsev

Over 7 million a year for 6 more years for a diminutive forward having a career year. Let me think. Let me think. Hard pass! Give them Zaitsev for free and sweeten it with Brannstrom if you need to.

By the way Sokolov is never going to happen because he can't skate and why in the world would you even consider trimming the Sens goalie pool let alone giving away a first round pick even if it is a 9 or 10.

I'm in a group chat with many prospective Ottawa business owners that are Sens fans. One of them has been tracking a crazy stat and it shows how this team isn't ready to start a game or period far too often with DJ Smith.

Tonight, Ottawa had one shot on goal until 7:23 left in the first period. Ottawa has had 47 periods this year in which they registered 0 or 1 shot on goal for the first 10 minutes of a period. That is a very telling stat. So for all the DJ lovers, give your head a shake. No coaching staff comes close to this abysmal stat, 2nd team on the list, is at 28 periods, Arizona. But Ottawa leads by a country mile. That is a big problem, when you are chasing the opposition that much. It won't produce results. But hey, let's bring back the same coach that has a winning % of under .375. Pathetic.

Dany Heatley, Brett Hull, Dave Andrychuck and more recently Mark Stone and Cory Perry. There are some good players that are not strong skaters. But, I think they are becoming less and less of a factor.

Poor technical skaters don’t age well and often their careers end abruptly. Great mechanical skaters like Patrick Marleau can add multiple years to their career because of their skating efficiency.

I have seen Sokolov 3 times in Belleville this year, he has serious trouble tracking the puck. He wont be here next year that is for sure, maybe as a call up but not full time.

He did but like Heatley, as we saw, the dropoff was dramatic when they hit a certain age. Lets see how the Stone contract looks in 4 years.

It will be a sideshow, I hope Ottawa doesn't get caught looking ahead to that game this Friday in Columbus.
