Josh Bloom needs to return to juniors next season despite signing a 3 year ELC and a PTO for Rochester.

On this team, sure. Don Granato coming out and defending him last week (or whenever it was) because of the injury was both very admirable and very telling. On one hand, it was nice to know that there was a very good reason that shot of his disappeared. On the other hand, it also tells us, if the kid is physically unable to shoot the puck, he's pretty much a liability. Olofsson is a luxury player. If I have 7 or 8 forwards better than he is, then I can live with him on my top 9.

4th in points, career highs in every category despite the injury. Take away any players best quality and you have a far lesser player. Common sense.

In a way he reminds me of Reinhart in that I think he can be a fantastic complimentary piece because of his skill set. Unfortunately I bet he gets a similar contract to what Reinhart got.

I think olo takes a team friendly long term deal to be part of buffalo and the swedes ( friends) on this team.

Basically olo is not a f*ckface like the guy you compared him too

what was said about johnson and portillos
- SabresFaninIndiana

They address it in the first 5-10 minutes.

RJ and Portillo see the opportunity to grow within the organization (yes Guy it matters)

Portillo is extremely close to Dahlin as well as Power and "that matters a ton". His and Dahlin's parents are good friends. KA strongly denied the notion that Portillo may be looking at free agency, and said "the opposite".

While he did not provide the same endorsement for RJ, he was also not asked the same question regarding him. RJ still is undecided about returning to school.

I respect you and your opinion

Unfortunately you backed up "9th" forward with 0 statistics.

3rd in goals
4th in points
5th in assists

Which 8 forwards are gonna get 20+ goals next year ?

For what little I saw, I love the passion he shows. It's too bad he won't be able to show his stuff in Rochester. If Nadeau also signed, he'd be in the same boat. I don't recall but I believe you need to be 20 by December to play in the AHL and he won't be 20 until January.

As most know, we can call these guys up for a 9 game sample. Would be pretty surprised to see Bloom earn that opportunity out of training camp, but at least we'll get to see him up against AHL/NHL competition in September.

This is where our cap space is nice. Maybe 5 x 5 is out of a lot of team's range for Vic. We can pay that and laugh. I don't get the desire to break up the 74, 37, 71 line. I certainly understand the experiments for the last 7 games of the season, but i want 74, 37, 71 back as our third line next season. They were very good for 3 weeks. That shouldn't be forgotten.

Nice interview with Marty St. Louis on 31 thoughts with Elliott Friedman today. Good luck to him with Habs. Hardest place to coach in the NHL.

Donnie wanted goaloffson to hit 20 goals, so he moved him to the 1st line.

Guy can play anywhere in the line up

Yeah. We can afford more. So when he signs for over 5 million, everyone can complain 😀

Imagine Buffalo Sabres fans complaining about retaining a goal scorer and paying him. Oh wait, we already do that with Skinner.

Ugh...they really will complain won't they?

Should be worried about Nashville. Dallas and LA have easier schedules. Nashville about to go through the ringer

They got crushed last night... I was at the game.

Well, sure.... I was just stating that in a sense they are both really good complimentary players that I'd love to have on my team but wouldn't want to pay them as if they were players that drove lines.

I'm worried for them. They've got Flames, Tampa, Flames, Wild, Avalanche and then Yotes last game.

They most likely need to win 3 or 4 games

Would you call what Reinhart signed as a team friendly deal? 6.5/3 years for a 60/65 point player is about on par with the average, but he turned into a ppg player on a good team. Just curious what you think of his deal, regardless of personal feelings, that are well documented.

(Disclaimer: I agree )

Its fun rooting for a pure sniper, especially when he's winning games for your team.

That's a big difference between the 2 and 179 draft picks

I think Sam's deal is pretty much perfect.
He's proven to be a 75 point guy ( or soon )

Florida tax breaks and slightly inflated stats by playing on a very skilled team.

Prime of his career ... playing well, teams winning.

Good fit, contract, player and team

If they won 4, they would mathematically be in over Vegas IF Vegas went 6-0, which I don't see. 3 wins would pretty much lock them in over Vegas as they have the regulation wins tiebreaker (unless all 3 wins come in OT vs Vegas winning 5 in regulation, or close to it).

It's not that dire, and especially if they can squeak out a loser point in the couple of games they are bound to lose, that would be huge.

You're probably right about that. I think that is one of the interesting things about Sam and Ollo - both are very talented players that you wouldn't necessarily want on your first line. That's probably also why they should be topping out in the 6 mill per range.

Dallas is going the gauntlet, Vegas has a weak ass last 6 games.

I could very well see Vegas going 5-1 and Preds going 2-4 and our pick being 26th not 16th
