I haven't thought of the name "Joe eh Juneau" in years. - lacaprup
The line of Satan-Curtis Brown-Juneau was one of the best scoring lines of the playoffs.

That had a lot of nice players. I think with a top line they may have won that series.
Grosek, Curtis Brown, Zhitnik, Varada, Holzinger, Plant, Smehlik, Warrener, Sarich - Slump Buster
they had an ok first line, very underwhelming compared to most teams in the finals
and some scrubs

The only one of those guys who even approaches being “good” was Barnes
And having Rob Ray on that list is a joke
He was NOT a “good” hockey player |

Major skating issue is the easiest thing to fix for a player?
Please explain....
Ever heard the coaches old term "can't teach speed"
Players can't be taught size either ☝️ - Boss34
8 of the top 20 scorers are 6' and under and a few others are at 6'1" hardly "big" players
Mikko Rantanen is the biggest at 6'4" and he has thrown less hits than Mitch Marner.
Rantanen hits per game: .78
Marner hits per game: 1.05

The Yankees season is going to be awful. By the time I get home from the trail in June I'm expecting a full on Bronz Zoo circus. Aaron "one rbi" Judge too good for $30 million per...thank god. |

I don’t think any of those guys were much above “average” - jdfitz77
That was the problem - they were some very good role players but we didn't have the high-end talent we needed.

they needed an Eichel..
hehe
they had one superstar and all role players after that.. even the few good players they had on that team were role players or shut down guys, not much to score the puck |

I still can't believe we got Warrener and a draft pick for Mike Wilson. He was the softest player I can remember not named Ruuttu. |

I haven’t watched an entire game on tv in quite a while
Started to get boring in the middle innings
Once the bullpens get involved, it livens the game up a little
But if there’s too many, then the game just gets prolonged & drawn out

Had the Sabres somehow won the Cup that year, they would be hockey's version of the 2000 Baltimore Ravens.

I’m not saying they weren’t
Someone said we had “a lot” of good young players on that team
And i could only remember a couple that were actually “good”

Darcy Regier got a lot of flack, and deservedly so, but the guys he acquired from 1999-2001 were pretty impressive:
Barnes
Juneau
Warrener
Gratton
Gilmour
Andreychuk
Heinze
Audette
I'm sure I'm missing a few.
JP Dumont was also acquired in that era but didn't play until afterwards. |

But at the same time he lost out on a lot of good deals because it wasn't enough to make a good hockey trade. He had to win the trade. The Barnes trade was a good example of that - one would think that if we could get Barnes for Barnaby that we would have driven Barnaby to Pittsburgh ourselves. Their GM said that the trade had been on the table for months but Darcy insisted on getting a pick as well.

The pick that eventually became Derek Roy also came over in the trade for Chris Gratton that same year, who eventually was traded for Danny Briere. |
