How EXACTLY can we “sell high” on Olofsson when he’s having a “down” season??

If anything, we’d more likely be “selling low”

Does this winning change your opinion on KA and the franchise moving forward?

If the Buffalo Sabres can manage to go 2-1-1 or better in their remaining 4 games this season (@ NJD, NYI, @ BOS, & CHI), they will finish the season on a 100+ point pace since March 1.

Not really. I'm sure that sounds harsh. Most of KA's year two has been trades for futures, and the immediate impact is the Eichel trade. I can't give him credit for Samuelsson's play or drafting Power...or guys like Tage and Okposo. Can give them some credit for Vinny, Pysyk, and CA, but not a lot. I did like his interview yesterday.

VO is an interesting contract, but I expect a dull summer. Things get real the following offseason with Tage and then Dalhin + Power. That's when we'll really see if the organization has improved.

😍😍😍

They've gone from potentially picking 5th to "threatening" to barely stay in the top ten.

They showed a stat on the post game that blew my mind. Dahlin is the first 50 point defenseman for the Sabres since who. Yup u guessed it Gary Galley in 95/96.

I would have sworn up and down Allen St. that Campbell had one but his career high in Buffalo was 48 although it would have been 62 the year we traded him to San Jose at the TDL.

Thinking about Dahlin and Power both on this team next year...

The growing percentage of people believing playoffs or bust next year?

Idk that expectations by FANS are what drives the amount of pressure Coaches/GMs feel….
I think that’s more determined by the owners’ expectations

Olofsson’s numbers:

19-20
54games, 20g-22a-42pts, .78ppg

20-21
56games, 13g-19a-32pts, .57ppg

21-22
67games, 18g-24a-42pts, .63ppg

So sure,
his numbers are slightly up from last year, but still significantly down from his rookie season

Pretty impossible to “sell high” when it’s been 2years since his best numbers

Highest numbers generally mean highest value
Plus, he now needs a contract with a significant raise that he didn’t need 2years ago

I just don’t see any data that would suggest his value is the highest it’s been
And considering he played through injury that clearly affected him this season, it’s also logical to think he’ll have better seasons than this season

So while he may have decent value,
it’s extremely doubtful his value is at a high point

high and highest are not the same thing, but appreciate the lack of caps this time

you also hit on an important point that you should factor into his value

What do u think his sell high” value is?

“Selling high” to me means that we can get a lot for him
I wouldn’t trade him unless we can get a 1st +

If we can get a “high” return for him, then great
But I’d be surprised if we can get that for him this offseason

Also, he’s proven he can play at a 20goal + pace
That’s valuable
And idk that we should be trading him away quite as easily as many on here seem to want

RD's been the big target, but Samuelsson + Dahlin, Power + Joker is growing on me and starting to feels like the direction they are leaning. I'd still like to do something there, if I could.

I expect KA to do the bare minimum this off-season, but I also don't expect him to make a long term commitment to VO, so his hand might be forced.

- Lunaion

Olofsson being in the exact same contract situation as Reinhart this offseason would make a quality return coming back a bit difficult, no?

Disagree completely.
His raw numbers are up CONSIDERABLY from last season, at +32%.
His RATE from last season is up 10%.
Both of which were considerably impacted by playing through an injury that SIGNIFICANTLY affected his shooting ability for 30 games.

Furthermore, it seems disingenuous to knowly quote rate knowing said rate was impacted by the injury period. It would be interesting to break down said rate into 3 periods;
pre-injury,
injury,
post-injury
Once you do that, it is highly likely a different opinion would emerge.

This is right. Vic's a 30+ goal man on healthy season with Mitts and Asplund. I want that line back once Don is done with the experiments. What a diamond in the rough as a 7th rounder. Which GM drafted him?
