Not gonna happen 36

Olofsson is/has been a very good young nhl player with a sniper shot.

He's earned 5+ million over 5 years.

I think Sam's deal is pretty much perfect.
He's proven to be a 75 point guy ( or soon )

Florida tax breaks and slightly inflated stats by playing on a very skilled team.

Prime of his career ... playing well, teams winning.

Good fit, contract, player and team

- Boss34

76 points in 72 games, rounding down this morning I see

I kid, pretty much spot on. Regardless of personal feelings (which is whatever) talented player who sucked to lose, but also past time to move on whichever side of the fence we're on.

On Olo, have been on the don't overpay for the one trick pony. Now that he's proven that only injuries hamper him (which do have to be taken into account for sure) glad to hop aboard the bandwagon, if there's room that is.

When Tuch signed in 2018, his AAV was 6% of the cap.

At an $82.5M cap limit, that would be just under $5M per for Olofsson.

He's not as good as Tuch, to me, so $4.25M-$4.5M per.

I would not want to go long on term as Olofsson needs to show he can be healthy and produce all season before I'd really be willing to pay big to keep him.

- kingcong39

What if he doesn't want to take a team friendly deal? That's part of what makes this fascinating. Would Terry/KA really make him our first long term signing in 3 years?

He got bumped down the depth chart a bit this year and now there's 2 more wingers coming up and more development from Krebs/Mitts and Asplund. Where does he fit 2-3 years down the road, when they have to start paying their top players?

Dallas is going the gauntlet, Vegas has a weak ass last 6 games.

I could very well see Vegas going 5-1 and Preds going 2-4 and our pick being 26th not 16th

- DirtyDan

If Vegas makes it they will almost certainly be playing Edmonton. That series could go either way - it might come down to Mike Smith (gulp). Anyway, Vegas might have the worst record of the playoff teams so even if they make it they might only slip one spot if they went out in the first round.

They'd stomp Edmonton.

Playoffs are different and are not kind to shallow teams like Edmonton.

3 weak ones (Devils, Sharks, Blackhawks)

3 tough ones (Caps, Stars, and Blues)

They play the next 3 at home (Devils[tonight], Caps, Sharks) then finish 3 on the road, with a back to back (Stars, Blackhawks (back to back) and finish with the Blues)

I wouldn't call that weak by any stretch.

Also, Stars finish at home with: Knights, Coyotes, Ducks.

Did you mean the Preds have a hard schedule?

You're probably right about that. I think that is one of the interesting things about Sam and Ollo - both are very talented players that you wouldn't necessarily want on your first line. That's probably also why they should be topping out in the 6 mill per range.
- Slump Buster

Personal feelings and many "bad look" stories about both sam and jack are still fresh in my mind.

All they both did was lose. Bad teammates minimal impact on winning.

Picked early and didnt live up to expectations

Lockerroom cancers.

I will admit that Sam's grown into a solid nhl player.
He was small, slow , young and week for most of his buffalo career.

He gone, and had proven me wrong.

Let's move on

I don't know how you can say that. Vegas is clearly not one of the top 6 teams in that conference and they are by no means world beaters. Edmonton has been a different team with Kane in the lineup and they are very impressive when they get competent goaltending (as they have lately). I'd take Edmonton in that series.

Just like gargalsons not being able to stay on his feet ect.

2 full years of your nonstop bashing. Even while the player was injured 🤔

Girgs has also proven you extremely wrong. ☝️

Those are 3 real weak teams. St Louis is the only great team they play.

To be fair to Vegas, they have been down Pacioretty, Stone, and Eichel each for significant stretches of hockey and are still within reach.

They absolutely are one of the top 6 western conference teams, just may be too little too late.

I watched some of the game against Edmonton when they lost 4-0 the other day and Pacioretty and Stone looked a half step behind

All those injuries and only 7 points behind Edmonton. I'm rooting against them but they for sure are a top team in the league not just that conference. (When Healthy)

I don't see how we can just assume that they are one of the top 6 when they are healthy. Vegas isn't what they were 2 years ago and Edmonton has been very good.

How many man games lost does Edmonton have from their top players.... And then account for them only being 7 points up on Vegas... which is not even 4 wins.

It really is that simple

1) Edmonton had really crappy goaltending for much of the year.
2) While Vegas did have a ton of injuries keep in mind that the injuries allowed them to go waaaaaaay over the cap. They lost Stone and brought in Eichel, so it isn't like they were bringing up a kid from the minors.

I wouldn't bet my house on either team but if I had to bet I'd take Edmonton.

Oh yeah they brought in a guy who hadn't played for over a year to compensate for their best player being out. Seems like it really should have payed off.

Their starter was injured for a quite a bit too.

Edmonton has poopy D and a poopy bottom 6. I don't think their goalies were completely to blame.

Reread what I quoted from you: "Dallas is going on a gauntlet, Vegas has a weak as schedule."

Out of those 4 teams, agreed Nash has the hardest remaining. One could argue that Vegas is next as they finish 3 on the road, and Dallas has a game in hand. Then LA.

Vegas pretty much has to go 5-1, or I just don't see them making it.

I think he explained it perfectly

They’ve lost some of the most man games to injuries and can’t get saves and are still within reach

It’s a fair assumption but things might work out in our favor
