I don’t want to trade Olofsson
The whole discussion was in context of what he’d be worth IF we did trade him
Even though i like VO as a scorer, i don’t think we’d get a good return in a trade for him

- jdfitz77

Ahh, sorry. Hard to keep the thread in order sometimes. I agree hus value is low because of the injury. I feel 25 games he couldn't shoot the puck. Where was R2 or Bjork during those games? Bad move Sabres.

Jay McKee in ATW today. If 06 is still too painful don’t listen. Stopping at his CHL coaching career for now.

What needs to be looked at is where the shots come from

He’s 33rd in individual scoring chances for. So it’s getting volume and not just a shooting bender

- sbroads24

It’s likely a bit of both
Idk that we can count on this type of shooting% moving forward
It could come back to earth a bit

No worries
I like Olofsson just fine
I’m not in a hurry to ship him out like many here seem to be

If we can get a good return, then it’s worth considering
Otherwise, I’m fine keeping him

Agree! Bring that glorious side of beef in and let Donnie whisper about meatballs in his ear…

I am sure it’d cost too much. Which is fine, I don’t see LA moving him and I’m not really willing to give up what it’d take…

I would also focus on RD and Goalie first. And then adding skilled beef to the forward ranks.

I can’t see the Kings giving up on a recent 2nd overall pick for a multitude of reasons.

I’m sure next season he’ll make his progressions.

Fitzy, in my mind we're really only looking to upgrade 3 spots amongst the forwards.
1. Bjork/Eakin
2. Hinostrosa, fine with him sticking around, he's only a 4th liner
3. I'd like an upgrade over Mitts

You get Johnny Hockey/Forsberg and Bergeron, others in yesterday's lineup can be juggled around between lines 1-4.

I know I'm the first one on here to say it, I get that, but hope you're ready for 05/06 all over again.

The problem is that you can't just "keep" him. You have to either extend him or trade him.

Johhny Hockey is going to be the highest paid player in the NHL when UFA season is done.

I’m more than fine with upgrading ANY spot in the lineup- as long as the cost makes sense

I still think we’re a season away from a significant leap up into the playoffs though
Kids still gonna have growing pains
And that includes Power, Quinn, Peterka, UPL, etc

I’m fine extending him on a reasonable deal
If not, there’s arbitration

Zito traded for reino with no guarantee that he would ever play for the Panthers.

That was the reason why the return wasn’t more.

- Ratsreign

He was an RFA, you really think there was a hold out risk there? Hard to see a scenario where they don't work out some type of extension.

There was stronger interest in the final year of Risto's deal. The NHL doesn't always make sense.

Which means he'd be a UFA after next season, and if he would not sign an extension by next season's trade deadline, he should be traded, unless you're ok losing an asset for nothing.

The reports here were that his agent started by asking for 6 per. My guess is that it would be 5 x 5.5 mill.

Pretty good test for KA. Clock starts ticking fast when he files for arb.

I was hoping they would've learned a lesson last offseason with Reinhart.

The story he told about the staph infection in 06 playoffs that kept him out of game 7. My God.

It's so great knowing what a phenomenal job KA has done with this roster. It's like every move he makes is the right one.

I doubt that Okposo is the comparable because that was done so many years ago and he is such a different player. I think Reinhart might be the better comparable.

Need a prop bet option on KA's first contract over 3 years. I think he's under some serious contract limitations.

Okposo was a much better player than VO when he hit UFA and signed his deal.

Duclair is a better comparable, and he signed a 3x3 with Fla.
