So much for the Bruce Bump narrative. This team is way past the bump stage. Those are usually 8,10,12 games. This team is capable of competing regardless of what the narrative monkeys say on here. - boonerbuck
I think it would be best now that we are .658% winning under Boudreau we do a full teardown this summer and start fresh. Seems like a solid GM move...

No need for a complete teardown, obviously, they do need better wingers, a better third line, and way better defense. Despite their low goals against under Boudreau, which is more of a function of a five men unit and great goaltending, their defence needs to be improved with more size and mobility.
I think Lockwood’s been decent, for an undersized player. He’s quick, has decent puck skills, brings energy and he’s not been a defensive liability. - LeftCoaster
Need 4th liners that can do all that but still make plays. Most are capable but coach has to give them confidence to not just dump it in every single time or not just to fire it at the net from any angle on the ice, praying something comes from it.
They are 4th liners but that doesn't mean that they can't think.
Should be a tired Sens team tonight, hopefully the Canucks don’t play down to their level…need a win tonight to keep those slim playoff hopes alive. Wonder if Halak starts? - LeftCoaster
I would be starting Demko every game from here on.
I just had a quick look at most teams caps, the Canucks, to the best of my knowledge, are the only team in the entire league with three defencemen taking up 20 million dollars in cap space. That’s a huge misappropriation of funds for a bubble team, it needs to be fixed! - LeftCoaster
What about Colorado. What about New Jersey this season.
Minny misses your cut off by 425K
Next season STL will be at 19.5M Boston next season will be at 20.1M

Agree but this can be tweaked. I would personally move D!ckenson to 4LC and shop for a good RH 3LC. Add a dman that could potentially log top 4 minutes. (RH if possible) and go from there. Round out the 4th line as things go on. Simple really.

Loved that he stepped up against a guy who doesn’t lose many fights and he got the better of him - LeftCoaster
Loved it. That's what this club needs more of. Leadership like that is invaluable and spreads through the dressing room like a cancer in a good way. Hopefully the boys take Schenn out for dinner...

Just looking and LA would still make a good trade partner for the Canucks.
Doughty at 11M Matt Roy at 3.1 Sean Walker at 2.65 would be their current top 3 for next season in terms of dollars but Sean Durzi who is an RFA is having a very strong year for them. Brandt Clarke is tearing up the OHL. Brock Faber has decided on another year of college. Jordan Spence can still clear waivers and could use some more seasoning. Helge Gran also 2-3 years away from regular duties.
LA has an abundance of potential and will sooner or later run into a problem.
Matt Roy would be current #1 target. Capable top 4. Signed for 2 more seasons. The cost might be not worth it though.

It's true. Get bruce back. Make a few teaks / improve D and depth. I think they earned the chance to start the season with Miller, BB, and the crew. But if they faulter, look to trade Miller and others and try again.

The problem is, is that the Canucks need cap space to do that – those things aren't going to come cheap, either in FA or a trade. They don't have much cap space to work with (and there aren't great D free agent targets), so they'll have to jettison a bigger ticket player or two, and they don't really have good trade chips, so again they'll have to jettison a bigger ticket player or two.
It's logical to keep Miller as he's the teams best forward. But it's also logical to trade him as he'll bring in the biggest return, he doesn't fit the window, and signing him will be an increasing anchor of a contract in a few years.

I said that last night. He was the teams 5th best forward last night. Should trade him.
