Throwing a hot dog AT a player on the ice/bench because he’s fat is a little different than throwing a hat because some scored 3, or an octopus etc. one is juvenile and mean spirited, the others are celebratory.
Personally I think throwing anything on the ice should be a no no, but clearly this wasn’t an amusing gag. - 1970vintage
There more than a few people on here who don't understand nuance and context

Cool and all...
Throwing jersey's and chanting for someone to be fired is way worse then a hot dog.
Phil's a star. He can handle it. Didn't they throw pancakes in TO?
Vancouver should issue him a tweet. The Vancouver Canucks wish Mr. Kessel to have another jelly roll, stick it in his belly roll.

Agree, throwing a jersey on the ice also “bad”. As was waffles etc. we agree, throwing things is not good. I wouldn’t personally chant anything, especially to fire someone, but I’m not sure those things are worse and the fans pay for the event, so chanting is part of the gig. Ref you suck, also a bad chant but here we are.

Totally agree...pay to get in, chant what you want. Break the rules, get kicked out.

Late birthday = older player in the draft?
Could you imagine two Elias Pettersson’s on the same team!

Thanks Carol
Just checking...
Its ok to throw hats, hamburgers, dead octopus, and dead rats, but a hotdog requires a written apology and public service?
And people think I'm crazy
Complaining that some of our best player suck and wanting them traded is like trying something gross and asking a friend "try this".
Most of the time you hype something up if you are trying to sell it.
I'm with the nip and tuck crowd...move a couple ugly contracts. Even some poop can get shined up for a trade if they play ok.

Wow I sure hope Phil is ok in the snowflake zone. Could be very mentally damaging.
Hopefully we have a huge tilt next time someone tosses Pizza on the ice:

Very good.
Omg that's terrible. They need a goal song with heart. - manvanfan
Agree need something to get folks jumping up out of their seats and engaged. Van Halen is a great track but doesn't really have that blood boiling energy. Really like the Dallas Stars one but some other good ones in there...

So what you’re saying is that if someone threw a hot dog at you from the stands during a beer league game you’d laugh it off and go back the bench?

I'm still trying to understand why someone would disrespect a hot dog? He's clearly a troubled soul.

Absolutely. Pretty funny stuff. People need to lighten the fuck up. I've seen much worse at Mens AAA games. When I played for the Innisfail Eagles we had a game in Big Valley about 700 fans there throwing about 7 blow up sex dolls on the ice. One of our players was a bit of a man-whore and they were letting him know it. He loved it. Good days.

lol yep been there. If folks think tossing a hot dog is offensive we are in big fucking trouble. We had a police escort out of Hobbema (now Maskwascis) at a Senior Mens game. One of our dmen blew out a native players nose as he was running around like an idiot on the ice trying to hurt guys. Folks were actually climbing the glass to get on the ice after him. Cops came and locked both gates at both ends of the rink shut the game down and sent us all home. Fans there used to toss coins on the ice too (very dangerous) in the oppositions end. Crazy times man but fun.
My Dad played in Quesnel in the 60's when they were winning those Coy Cup championships. They had full-on brawls in the stands then too...mostly the wives of opposing clubs lol
