Nichushkin scores to tie the game at 1 between Washington and Colorado.
Sorry Vantel, he probably just priced himself out of Van with his 22nd of the season. |

The only reason either player has been in the lineup the past couple seasons is because of their streak. - 1970vintage
I get that but cāmon a D man who doesnāt even miss a single game is either the toughest mofo around or luckier than any D ever or doesnāt sacrifice hardly at all. Iād bet on the last one. |

Makar got his 83rd point of the year on that goal to set the franchise record. Both teams are flying. |

I've gotta give the edge to Benning. His spending was so epic that he helped Arizona reach the cap floor, put us over the cap for a couple years after his firing, and stuck us with a 7.26 plus mil anchor contract for 6 years.
The win loss record speaks for itself. - Load Management
Our cap isnāt in a bad way but it is a challenge for big moves. 1st big hurdle for the new regime if they see big changes are wanted. JR did say 2yrs is needed which falls into line with what the roster & cap projects as. Martin signed cheap is the 1st move adding a cheap young D in Dermott another move that gets allocation going in the right direction. |

If they don't make it to the conference final at least. Someone needs to be canned.

Of course I am. I laugh very joyfully at the "fair weather fans" that want to trade the players every time they make a mistake and extend them one they score a goal.
There's definitely a few that aren't far off wanting to be the Coyotes. Maybe not just with the trade but with their overall outlook for the team. - manvanfan
Thatās an exaggerated portrayal of most ppl in here. Some of us have singled out players & stuck to our guns. Some want a rebuild of wholesale changes which imo is going overboard. |

Canucks have 16M in cap space next season. With only Boeser that would need to be signed.
OEL's buyout in two seasons is pretty good. Saving's of 3.2M off his 7.26 is the worst. that's still pretty good. - manvanfan

I'd think Phil had a impact for the 800 games or so before that. Actually, the guy had cancer early in his career. As much as people laugh at him, a couple of cups, over 1000 games played. 400 goals. Laugh away? - golfingsince
Phil is different cat but heās done just fine when one considers everythingš |

Open question: is scoring or defending more important for defenceman? Seems many on here prefer offensive numbers - neem55
We lack a true top 4 shutdown D man. Every coach says & knows you play good D the offence will follow. |

Every time I've seen them play, they are great and fast and deadly but I just never quite got that "they will be in the finals" feel. Something just seemed not there for playoff time. |

You don't win games by not scoring goals. That's why the NHL pays players that can score. Including defensemen that aren't very good defensively.
You can still have both on each pairing. - manvanfan
Agree it is & always has been about D pairing dynamics. |

Changes to the Swedish agreement with the NHL.
One big change, players drafted out of 2nd round or later now can't go to the AHL before the age of 24.
Under the old agreement, players drafted in the second round or later that are also signed in Sweden had to be at least 21 before they could be sent to the AHL. If they were younger than that, they had to be returned to their Swedish team. In the new agreement, that threshold has been increased to 24.
I'd imagine you see a few more fringe 1st/2nd round Swedes taken late in the first round to avoid the situation. May also cause them to drop a little in the 2nd round. |
