I’d be shocked if the Habs win another game this season playing like this. |

Brink is playing like how we hoped Frost would play. Confident with the puck on his stick and always creating.
Edit: Frost just had a great shift too. Hopefully he's getting some confidence back. - fishbulb
I agree with this! I like what I've seen of Brink so far. There's definitely a confidence there and it shows.

Devastating win.
One of those you look back on at the end of the season with regret about what might have been. |

I just wanted to stop by and offer my congrats to Yandle for finding a way to still be a -2 tonight in 7 minutes of ice time. You da man!!
Sanheim with almost 30 minutes of ice time tonight. He's been playing pretty good since ummmmmm, ah, forget it. I was gonna say since Risto went out of the lineup, but didn't want to go there. Whooops....guess I just did.
On a somewhat more serious note, I am liking Brink's game more and more with each game. Yeah, I know it was the dreadful Habs tonight, but he actually makes plays with the puck and despite his size he battles for the puck and wins some of those battles. Perhaps Frosty can take notes. Thanks! |

Sanheim was playing well long before Ristolainen got hurt. His play over the last few months have been well beyond his start to the season.

You've been saying that for weeks. Its not going to happen.
WPG and PIT will beat PHI 100%. Flyers wont be able to compete with these 2 teams
It is unlikely they beat CHI or OTT but possible. I highly doubt this team can shutdown Kane, Jones Debrincat and Tkachuk, Stuzle, Norris, Batherson. Have also heard whispers that theres a very very small chance Chabot could return and play a few games before the season ends

1) Frost is playing fine. He absolutely has been competing consistently, winning his share of battles, not cheating out of the zone whatsoever, and creating a healthy number of chances. I'd like him to work on his shot -- the one thing that hasn't come back 100% since the surgery, IMO -- this offseason. But his two-way game has improved by leaps and bounds. He has done everything asked of him. I fully expect a points surge out of him next season because he's right on the precipice. But I do want to see more chances turning into goals and assists for him and for Tippett as well. The Flyers need it.
2) Brink is clearly highly skilled. Last night was a game where both teams had all sorts of time and space to make plays. This offseason, he is going to be asked to trim his body fat percentage a bit and replace it with a bit more muscle. But there's no doubt about the vision, hands or work ethic.
3) Sanheim has been playing very well pretty much ever since the coaching change. Ristolainen, overall, has worked well with Sanheim. But Sanheim has taken the next step his game regardless of partner.
4) I'm not going to pile on Yandle by taking your apparent glee in his decline.
He's at the "Steve Carlton is working on a screwball because his slider has no bite anymore and his fastball is down 5-7 MPH" stage of his late career. In other words, Yandle has lost a stride-plus, and no longer brings the offensive game he once had. It is sad to see someone who had such a meritorious overall career and is so universally liked and respected within the game be a shell of himself as a player.
When the puck is in the D zone with him, it's probably not leaving. When it's up ice, you just hope there's no turnover because there's a big risk of him getting caught above the puck and being unable to recover.
The will is still there. The preparation and professionalism are still there. But Father Time always wins in the end. It's not amusing or worthy of sarcasm.
Strictly based on the merit of his played, he should not have played every game for FLA last year and then every game for the Flyers this year until he was beyond setting the ironman streak record. That's the cold reality.
It's no fun saying that about a player as beloved within hockey as he is. But it's the truth. If the streak had ended last season or one of the past occasions when he was banged up but played through it, it would have been a non-issue about scratching him for game performance-based reasons.
Yandle handled the end of the streak with tons of class and dignity. He's doing everything he can to be a positive influence on the young players who are coming through, even though he's likely in his final weeks as an NHL player.
I will be totally candid. Along with being without Ellis for all but the first three games of the season and a one-game return, the severe struggles of the third pair -- Yandle + whomever he was paired with-- were one of the biggest problems this entire season beyond the first two weeks.
Add in Braun being pressed into first-pair duty all year prior to the trade -- rather than being a steady 3rd pair vet who could be spotted higher periodically as needed. Add in Provorov, after a strong first five weeks, struggling with inconsistency until late in the season.
These have been the primary issues with the blueline. Ristolainen has his strengths and weaknesses that come along but there was WAY too much focus on him by segments of the fan base. The Flyers had and still have much bigger issues to figure out on the D corps. |

Well said. Never understood the personal anger and hate on certain players. It’s just a game. |
