I keep hearing people say Jack took a year off… So, no, he didn’t first of all. He had scrimmages all last summer and fall, then his surgery in what November? Back on the ice in February? He had like 4 or 5 months off tops. - BeadyEyedDouche
Ah, yes, non-contact shinny is totally the same as NHL action |

Not only have the same injury as Eichel but literally every doctor I talked to said surgery is the absolute last resort, even at the age of 37.
He could have and should have rehabbed but instead got an experimental and unnecessary surgery that might actually have given him more long term issues than 6 months of rehab and physical therapy. |

And he did it to force his way out of town.
He literally sacrificed his health to not play for Buffalo anymore |

Is there a point to the constant Skinner bashing?
He’s signed here & not going anywhere
Is your point that we should try to trade him, or buy him out, or whatever?
We ALL agree he got overpaid
That was years ago dude, YEARS
What do u wanna do with Skinner at this point?? - jdfitz77
Pray to god Homie or Sbroads get a GM job and offer up anything of significance for him to get out of the last few years of that deal.

I don’t think he’s worth 9 mil.
This is now the 8,000th time I’m saying it
But saying he’s a net negative is statistically false |

Right?
He’s been laying well this season
Shouldn’t we be happy about that?
Certainly can’t change his contract at this point
It is what it is

Skinner is overpaid by 2 million due to multiple reasons
The summer he was extended multiple teams gave out bad contracts due to the salary cap remaining the same when it was due to go up. Flyers and Kevin Hayes is an example of that
Then Covid happened and the cap stayed the same |

I guess it depends on which direction you are coming from. Skinner's production has been good this year, in a season where this team will be missing the playoffs by 25-30 points. That's one season. As someone said, it depends on the production going forward. If the entire body of work shows this season being his best while under this contract, and the team doesn't ever make the playoffs, then it's a boat anchor. On one hand, Skinner's contract isn't the biggest problem with this team, and female doging about it seems pointless. On the other hand, there's no denying that the massive contracts that were given to the Jeff Skinners and the Kyle Okposos of the world are what got this team in the hole that it finally seems to be climbing out of.
That being said, if Tampa Bay can figure out a way to win a Stanley Cup with Zach Bogosian on its roster, the Sabres should definitely be able to figure out a way to be more than competitive while being on the hook for Jeff Skinner's contract. |

When was I wrong about Skinner ? He’s never been a $9M player and I can’t see him get any better as the contract ages.
I’m just ahead of the curve in arguing about Skinner when Hockeybuzz will be doing the same a few years from now.
I apologize for having foresight ? |

"The Knights thought Eichel was the final piece to get them over the top, even if they cut out even more of the foundation to add him. Well, that boulder is rolling down the hill pretty heavily right now and Eichel is lying with his Richard in the dirt."

My favorite line of the article
"Lehner hasn’t been very good, and has been injured this season, but he also needs nothing more than an odd look to wet himself over feeling slighted."
Like when he blamed Sabres fans for his 0fer shootout year |

You literally stated a page ago he’s a net negative player.

You think that’s what got us here?
I think it was awful drafting, awful coaching personally.
Murray provided us no depth, Housley and Krueger provided us with all time bad coaching
Okposo and Skinner are gonna combine for almost 55-60 goals |

Again, in a season where they will miss the playoffs by a mile. I need them to do it when there are actual expectations and something to lose. Otherwise, it's just lipstick on a pig. Do it again next year, while also getting this team at least within a sniff of playoff contention, and then maybe I change my tune.

I don’t see the relevance as to when it happens.
They don’t control the other 20 parts of the team.
They both aren’t worth their deals but they are pulling their respective weight now that the organization is in a stable place |
