Ottawa looks like they are locked into the 7 /8 spot for the draft.

A two part question:
Who would you like them to take with this pick
Who do you think Dorion will take instead

It's probably safe to assume that all of Wright, Cooley, Slafkovsky, Nemec, Jiricek, and Savoie will be off the board by the time the Senators pick. If not, it would be pretty hard to justify not picking anyone from that group who slipped down to the ~7/8 spot. Beyond that, the draft is pretty forward-rich, so I'm looking for them to add a high-potential scoring forward (Lekkerimaki, Yurov, Kemell, Lambert). Knowing Dorion/Mann, it wouldn't surprise me if they opted for one of Geekie or Gauthier... who are more all-round forwards with size, but less offensive upside. They also both have NHL bloodlines, which often seem to influence their picks.

If they go a bit more off-the-board, I'd prefer to see them take a run at Denton Mateychuk, who's likely the best offensive D-man in the draft. My biggest fear is they go off the board for Rutger McGroarty, who's the token 'intangibles' pick, with grit, character, and leadership qualities. I'm sure he'd be a useful 3rd line player, and if he's still on the board when the pick in the 2nd round pick, then maybe it's worth considering... but not with a top-10 pick.

If those are the six off the board by when OTT picks, I would say Kemell, Cutter Gauthier, Jimmy Snuggerud (best name in the draft) or Luca Del Bel Belluz are all decent options. I really like Pavel Mintyukov, saw him play against the 67s and he is a really good pmd, and likely to fall in rank given his Russian citizenship but he is a great, quick rising prospect who could be the final cog ottawa needs to round out their future D.

To the one person whining in here about how there is nothing positive being posted after a win, if you understood the game at all you know how bad of an "actual hockey game" it was on Saturday night. How many passes actually connected to the correct team? You allow the WORST team in the NHL 48 shots, you can't set up your PP against one of the worst PK's in the league, yet it was such a great game. The entertainment was great but actual hockey was near nor far between. Can Ottawa win 4 games in a row for the first time since 2017? That stat alone is why fans have a hard time being positive with this team. They are winning games once again when there is no importance placed on the games. This coach failed miserably with his lineup to start the season when there were no excuses. Then as the year went he hung onto the excuses to keep his job, plain and simple.

A few of us in our group text chat see Ottawa taking Lambert, but again, like many of you have said in here, who knows what Dorion will do. Like Kevin said in here, it was Mann who had to convince him not to trade down in 2020 and take Sanderson. Dorion probably had his eyes fixed on another DJ style type of player. Thankfully someone with hockey IQ demanded the proper hockey thing be done.

What a fantastic response. I lol'd.
I wonder if he can pick Boucher a second time. Just to waste TWO picks on him and make sure everyone knows how bad he wanted him.

They took Stutzle with the SJ pick and like I just posted Dorion almost whiffed on the number 5 pick that year, that was their own only to move down and probably take another ridiculous playoff style pick, when this team isn't anywhere near the playoffs.

I could alos see Ottawa going with Geekie if they don't take Lambert. I would love that Cooley kid, watched a feature on him on Saturday during the Pitt/Detroit game as he's from PA. His family is full of hockey lifers, both on the female and male side of the family. If anyone can find the tv feature to post on here, it was worth watching.

32. Noah Warren, D, Gatineau Olympiques (QMJHL): Old-school, hit-to-hurt mentality along with top-notched skating ability in a monstrous package.

If Dorion wants to go off the board, this sounds like DJ's player lol.

32nd is pretty high for him... Button has him at 40th, McKenzie has him at 59th, and McKeen's has him down at #98. But you're right, I could definitely see them taking a run at him in the 2nd round. He'll still be 17 at the draft (birthday is in July), is a natural RH-shot, and is already listed at 6'5, 215lbs...

Well watching the first 2 periods of the 67s game tonight, has me doubting that Boucher pick more. I see very little from him. Far more other players noticeable. I hope with a full season next year that he adapts better and finds some scoring touch too.

Basically this guy should go in the 2nd round. Maybe Ottawa uses some of their extra picks to move up to grab this guy. When I read it all I could think about was DJ's MO all over the description of this player.
