People are talking about the 2022 lottery draft & the Hawks moving up
Hawks don't have a pick in the 1st Round this year so are we talking 2023?? |

Chara is just a freak of nature with an awesome work ethic and Ekholm turned out to be an overlooked steal by the Preds. (As were Shea Weber and Roman Josi for that matter).
These 2 new signees are just names for the Hawks organization to list on their 50 man roster of signed players. Dmen who may or may not be NHL capable. What matters is how are they going to be developed and by whom.
I would be happy if either of these 2 and even Vlasic turned out to be a Ben Chiarot, Scott Mayfield, Robert Bortuzzo, Joel Edmundson type player - a 4/5/6 Dman, durable with some physical, ugly, nasty to their games.
Or they could turn out to be Dillon Fournier, Michael Palliotta, Carl Dahlstrom, Chad Krys.
Whatever became of Nicholas Beaudin? - RickJ
I completely agree Rick, they may amount to nothing, and the odds agree with you. I'm just hopeful and encouraged it looks like we definitely have one big guy who looks like he can skate in this league? As always time will tell and I'm hoping we have a few gems in the system. |

The pick the Hawks owe the Jackets is top 2 protected in 2022. If the Hawks win the lottery to move to #1 or #2 this year they keep the pick and give the Jackets their 2023 1st round pick. |

100 % Agree - good post
Kane is 34 this fall.
Those suggesting the Hawks will be a contender in time for 88 to be a part of it are dreaming.
Kane needs to chose
1- Staying here for a miserable 3 years then retirement
or
2- Be traded to a contender & play meaningful games
Somewhere like the Rangers- Kings or the Wild
As for Strome & Toews
Don't see them here next year - Colbyboy
I think both Strome and Toews will be year next season, the team still needs to ice a competitive group. They want high draft picks, but they don’t want to lose 70 games next season either.
Without Strome and Toews who are the Hawks options at centre? Dach isn’t a 1C or 2C yet. Reichel shouldn’t be put into the position to be the 1C or 2C. Borgstrom - ????? Then there’s a bunch of guys who are winger/centres.
I doubt any team will want to take on Toews’ contract, even at 50% retained. At most he could be moved at the TDL, but thats doubtful.
Strome is a good option to fill the centre gap through the rebuild, I’d sign him for $4 million/year for 3 years.
Even with Strome and Toews the Hawks will be a lottery team next year season.
I’d re-sign Kubalik too, but to a 1 year deal. He gets to be a UFA at the end of the season and the Hawks can flip him at the TDL.

If not for the additional 1st round pick in 22 or 23 I’d be ok with the Jones deal. He is the true #1 d-man the Hawks need. |

I agree. I could see Strome, Kane, Debrincat, T. Johnson, Toews and even Kubalik all being back next year. Maybe King and Crawford behind the bench too. Though I would not be surprised if there is a major trade. Maybe moving a defender. The big moves will be at the TDL and next summer. |

Remember when year after year an excuse for Colliton was he never had a full training camp. If he did there would have been a big difference. Until this season when he had a full training camp and there was no difference. We will be hearing that again about King. He just needs a full training camp. |

No matter the spin, I don’t think KD is as positive about our pipeline (including defenseman) than the BOD. Kelly and Stewart have been in Chicago all during KD’s time with the Hawks. His first move on day 1 was to can them both. If he thought the Hawks scouting department was doing a good job, I don’t think he would of blown it up on day 1. - LAHawk
That’s a good point.
Im not high in their pipeline regardless of the fluff thats been written lately. |

They still suck but they aren’t chasing players around like 8 year olds. Theyre more or less getting beat because they are bad and that is the better of the two.

Really appreciate this 🙌
No Crystal ball but not sure if 88 is gone that
17 & 19 make this team anything better than a 65 point team. Maybe worse without Fleury & Kane.
Love to draft Bedard #1 in 2023!

Contending that having a full summer to plan and a full camp to implement changes is legitimate. But at the end of the day the very low overall talent level of the players is going to make improvements really difficult. |

Not sure if Kane, Debrincat, Toews, Strome, Kubalik, T. Johnson all stay if this not a bottom two team next season. The defense and goaltending will sink them. Arizona probably will be as bad. But if Price comes back at all Montreal will be somewhat better. After that there is a bottom 6 to 10 teams that most likely will be pretty horrible. So a top two pick next year is likely. |

No he should not be the coach of the Blackhawks next year. Full overhaul of both coaching staffs nhl and ahl imo. |

If you trade Kane, Strome and ADB you will probably get a top 2 pick no matter who is coach. |

Yes, the broken franchise's AHL team somehow made the playoffs. A miracle indeed. |

There is a slight amount of time and reason perhaps to recall a prospect from Rockford. The icehogs don't play until Apr 27 and are nine games over .500. They clnched a playoff spot. There are two players not yet to receive a taste of the NHL whom Davidson might like to see even for one gp. Alty has been hot scoring lately and McLaughlin is a quality player |

McLaughlin is not part of the future, so why bring him up. I’d rather see Mitchell up for a game or two, just to give him another taste of the NHL, and he should be on the big club next year. They’re probably not trading Seth Jones, so Mitchell and Jones are two for sure on the backend this fall, probably Stillman as well. |

And you can very likely get a top two pick next year with Kane, Strome and ADB. You are 5 points from having the 3rd worst record in the league now. Playing Lankinen and Delia in goal and giving more playing time to multiple near rookie dmen is a good way to tank.
