the positive is top 5 pick this year and a good shot at bedard next year - 2Real
I love the optimism that we can have anything good in the draft.
Whomever it is we will form him into the second coming of Nick Cousins. |

How we looking with Coots starting an 8 year contract post back surgery.
Should be terrific for us. - konalover711
he's going to be one expensive 3rd line center |

He's already healed and is back to skating daily including yesterday's practice. He's fine now. Ellis concerns me way, way more. |

The Flyers have been eaten alive by the Penguins for 3 decades.
All 8 Eastern Conf. playoff teams will have 100+ points. So essentially the Flyers are finishing 40+ points out of the #8 seed. Mind boggling.
Being a bottom feeder with very limited cap space is the worst position to be in. Add incompetent ownership and it's the perfect recipe for a laughing stock franchise. - PLindbergh31

Is there any truth to be doesn’t want to play here? If he refuses surgery, does that just leave Philly in limbo? Or can the Flyers void contract |

just a migraine....
Find it impossible to believe they cant diagnose whats wrong or have the recommended course for treatment. Is this an injury never seen to mankind before?

Do those "three decades" include the Penguins going into their 2nd bankruptcy, Ed Snider financially assisting Baldwin to keep the team from going under, the Penguins, and the Penguins sinking back to the bottom of the league, desperately holding on for a lockout, a salary cap, a team sale and a heavily weighted draft lottery (based on 2003-04 standings rather than an equal odds lottery) to maximize their chances at Crosby in 2005?

Penguins 5 Cups
Flyers Zero Cups
So because Ed Snider bailed out a rival, Flyers fans have been subjected to seeing them win 3 Stanley Cups. Awesome! Thanks Ed.

I don't know what's going on because no one really seems to know (or won't say) exactly what's gone on. I also put much stock in where this particular rumor originated from -- it wasn't from anyone based in Philly or Nashville for that matter. Ellis himself said the trade caught him off-guard. But he was upbeat during the opening homestand and in a very happy, chatty mood the day before he made his one-game return against Dallas. Those has been our only dealings with him this season. No one I know in the organization has been able/willing to shed light on the time since he exited the lineup again, except that he has come around the Skate Zone for treatment and had some light skating sessions before he was shut down.
I suspect the rumors are way, way, way overblown in terms of him not want to be part of the organization. But the long-term prognosis health wise, I don't know.

5-2 Bill is all that matters. No fan gives a crap about any f the business stuff. ey at least the flyers didn't file BK. Laughable at the end of the day.
5-2. Flyers are the Pens little step brother.

The fact Snider bailed out a rival affording them to win 3 Stanley Cups since, while the Flyers won zero the last 40 years of his ownership tenure makes it all the more absurd.

This is probably the most stressful part of the season for me....
If the Flyers can just play like they have all year against Pittsburgh, Chicago and Winnipeg
AND
Seattle can just mustard AT LEAST 1 win against Vancouver or LA
Then it will come down to the final games of the season.
Wow this nervous feeling must be what other fans feel when their teams make the playoffs and have a chance to win, but in reverse.
The only thing that can make this season worse is if the Flyers pick sixth. |

The Penguins were gifted -- undeservingly -- a taxpayer funded arena, a bailout from insurmountable debt, two franchise players (first Lemieux back in '84 and then Crosby in 2005) as a reward for open tanking. Yes, I resent the hell out of it.
Nothing against their players, hockey ops people, etc. They've hit on a bunch of late-round picks. They're well coached. They were a deserving team -- not franchise, but team -- in all three of their Cup-winning seasons.
But if Ed Snider hadn't stood by Bettman when Board of Governor approval to keep fighting for a hard cap -- to replace a no-cap system that benefited the Flyers -- and if he hadn't helped Pittsburgh get over the hump to get there, the Flyers would likely be playing the Kansas City Whatevers today. |

looks like good business decisions to me at the end of the day. They won at both ends, the business and hockey end. Got what they wanted.
Bill probably 98% of arenas/stadiums are taxpayer funded. So singling them out is meaningless. Great Snider used his own cash. Business wise was it smart?
Flyers have been and are just an inept organization. You can defend it all you want. I get that as it pays your bills. Yes they have the right intentions. Yes they also have no clue how to achieve them. This is what you should resent.
When they do a team biography, will they mention how Snider "saved" the Pens? Of course not as no one cares. 5-2 is all that matters.
