The Ellis situation is sketchy at best. He sits out the whole season after the guise that the injury isn't major and he should be back soon in the early parts of the season. The ridiculous subterfuge the Flyers constantly employ shows a lack of knowledge of the current landscape of professional sports. This isn't Slapshot and the NHL has departed ways from the 1970's era of constant brawls and reprisals. The fact that the Flyers are one of the only teams in all 4 major sports to still play this tight-lipped game is another major red flag. Another red flag is the fact that he hasn't had surgery yet. They could have gotten ahead of it, shut him down for the season and already had the surgery and started rehab. Now the Flyers are looking at the Spring and summer as a much smaller window to address the injury with surgery and rehabilitation. My guess is he ends up having surgery late summer or into next season once they realize his injury can't be rehabbed properly without it.

Do you really think that they haven't realized already that it can't rehabbed that way? My guess and it's just a guess is that they also don't believe that surgery can fix it. At least not a surgery that he can resume playing after words.
