He just didn't leave them anything to develop! - VanHockeyGuy
The one saving grace was, he was such an overall sh itty GM his continual bottom ten finishes produced good draft positions where he was able to snag Petey, Demko & Hughes. |

Who says we wanted him back? lol glad he's doing ok in CGY but the country-club of injuries aside glad we moved on. To take the next step you gotta move on from Tweeners like Edler-Tanev. CGY has a deeper line up which provides some nice shelter for players like tanev. - LordHumungous
You mean the 2 that are actually in the playoff?
Glad Benning made room for OEL, Schenn, Burroughs, Poolman, Hunt
Did I miss anyone?

For sure, any fool gets lucky once in awhile. Like I said before, it doesn't matter anymore. Fixing the team this summer will be interesting.

I can't give you a timeline or even a for sure if they will make it. There's always a massive amount of uncertainty with a massive portion of prospects. I can give you perspective on how development has been going.
LA's top 5 prospects Bjornfot, Kaliyev, Byfield, Turcotte, Vilardi had a combined 48 points this year. Most would have told you the 3 in bold would all be scoring 48 points each by now in the NHL. |

Well said.
In the same line of thinking, with only 7 well-timed plane crashes, the Flyers are still in contention for the Metro. |

Schenn is better than Gudbranson at half the price. - manvanfan
Yes but Gudbranson is way more attractive. |

There is only room for 1. Plus Schenn has an understudy now in Burroughs. He's taking notes and names. |

LA's prospects are (in order) 21, 20, 19, 21, 22 and are playing in the NHL. Maybe they shouldn't be, maybe they need more seasoning, but they're playing on a playoff team.
I doubt, outside of Rathbone, any of those other guys has an impact on the Canucks roster. Maybe some make the 6/7/8. Would love to be wrong. |

Are they really top prospects if they need more seasoning?
Late bloomers are still rare for forwards, defence is just random.
At this points in time, Woo, Myrenberg, Truscott, Gabrielsson, Persson all still have a very legit shot at becoming an NHL regular. |

He made the Swedish national team. They play in May. Same reason Canucks couldn't bring over Podz last year. |

Yes? But I assume you're just being facetious. Hughes was a top prospect when he was drafted but still needed time after drafting. Look at the success of TB and how they mature their top prospects.
Also, I heard someone say here once or thrice that the NHL is the best development league in the world. Maybe they just need more seasoning as NHL regulars? |

Was fishing with a bunch of buddies who were Canuck fans when the Flames signed Tanev, they weren’t very happy but thought Schmidt would be better. Little did they know. |

Gustav Forsling was mediocre junior player. OJ was a good one.
That's what I mean, players make large jumps in development and some don't ever get any better. |
