Last night was the final page of story. Draft day will be epilogue, and whenever that 1st round pick dons a jersey in an NHL game a new story begins. No need to not give everything its due.
New topic. Edmonton is a beast right now, and will sweep LA in the first round. - lacaprup

I actually mentioned at the end of my call this morning as a joke, we should send Paul Hamilton to the lottery to make sure no funny business happens. |

Yeah, and Kane has helped them immensely - Buff36
Speaking of Kane, I have no idea why the NHL calculates cap hit this way for in season signings for contracts that contain bonuses.
How is the cap hit calculated for one year contracts signed after the start of the season?
If a player is signed to a one year contract after the start of the NHL season, that contract is subject to a unique cap hit calculation.
A notable aspect of the calculation is that the cap hit value is increased.
The cap hit is calculated as follows:
Cap hit = Signing bonus Γ total season days / season days remaining + base salary
Example:
Brogan Rafferty of the Vancouver Canucks signed a one year ELC on April 2, 2019. The contract has a base salary of $832,500, a signing bonus of $92,500, and there were 4 days remaining in the 186 day season:
Cap hit = $92,500 Γ 186 / 4 + $832,500
Cap hit: $5,133,750 |

So looks like we will be picking 9th unless we lose both are games and Detroit or the Senator's win there's. |

Caveat that this will never happen because it almost never does, but what kind of offer sheet would need to be thrown at Jason Robertson this offseason or Roope Hintz next offseason to get the player interested enough to sign it and get Dallas to balk at matching it? |

They could also pick as low as 11th as they could pass both San Jose and Anaheim? |

Sorry you are right, thought they hadn't added Anaheim's points from Yesterday, and totally missed SJ |

First round is going to be some fun matchups. TB/Leafs and Bs/Canes are pretty much guaranteed to happen in the East. Blues/Minny should be good |

TB is going to wipe the floor with Toronto. Who is playing net for the Canes? That could be a 7 gamer. Blues / Minnesota is an absolute slugfest. Great series. I'll take Minnesota. |

Joonas Donskoi has 2 goals in 71 games.
17 and 16 the two years in Colorado in just over 100 games.
Wow - sbroads24

I wonder how Vegas will look as a market once it falls apart next year? I hope those fans can hold on. I love them in theory as a successful franchise. Vegas, LA, San Jose, Anaheim, Dallas make hockey viable in places where it just has no natural business being. Good for the league if Vegas doesn't turn into a dumpster fire. |

Why would they fall over? While they have too many aging stars on expensive contracts those same aging stars will ensure that they are still pretty good. The problem that they are going to have is that it is going to be tough to get better because of all of the expensive contracts. The problem might be as simple as getting consistent goaltending.

Really good hockey players have a curious way of not playing their best on a team with Jack. We'll see. It doesn't help matters for them Alex Pieterangelo isn't the same player anymore. |

Vegas will always look good as a market because it's Vegas. They'll always have the corporate ticket base. They'll always be a destination for players. Even in their good years, they were full of opposing fans that made the trip to see their road team play, and I don't see that changing. In fact, when you factor in everything, there likely isn't a better city to travel (other than your home one) to watch your team play. That alone will always make Vegas a viable NHL city. |

From your lips to God's ears. Not only is Vegas an important TV market and revenue source for the NHL, another team in that area just brings more athletes from the Southwest United States into hockey.

The only non Sabre Jersey I've ever purchased is a red Alexander Ovechkin Jersey, which he autographed for me, and is now hanging on my nephew's wall.
I will say this. EVK wore the Sabre jersey with pride on the ice. I thank him for that. |
