Whe nI wrote I thought about Hak...
True he wasn't given much but I expected him to bring best out of youngsters and develop them properly....Just about all regressed under him.

This guy Kronborg has Won at high levels and brings a new view to North American Hockey.
Similar to the Russians thought process to rethink Hockey coming out of the war.

I would love to see a new brand of Flyers hockey up tempo, solid D great transition game.
Eliminate the give up possession scheme that is our identity.

If you ever read Anatoli Tarasovs' book about hockey,- The road to Olympus, along with the Behind the Red Line , written buy a Hawks draftee who was the first American to play in the Russian League ( Ironically for Sokol Kiev) the training tempo was based on preparing for IIHF Worlds and the Olympics, not for the day to day games.
Tarasov viewed himself as an orchestra conductor in a way. The teams rigorous training and system ( Communist propaganda in his statement " The collectivism of the Soviet pass - yes he said that about the way they were trained to pass) was designed to let the other teams blow their loads physically early in games and then they would just raise the tempo when their opponents were winded..

You could not do that in todays game with an 82 game schedule, though the 2010 era Hawks were a team that played fast the whole game...

Another irony is that Fred Shero studied Russian hockey systems and adapted them to the Cup era Flyers, knowing where to be at all times, made up for a deficiency in speed.

Maybe we are looking for the next Fred Shero sans the ill humor mentality.

Bill- have you read those books..they are very enlightening. And I think it was Todd Hartje's look at a life on the hockey teams "baza"= camp was very humorous...

I wouldn't mind that path. Though IMO Hakstol was that kind of hire and people didnt really go for it.

And in hindsight, I think Hakstol did a good job with what he was given.

- MBFlyerfan

Hakstol's teams made the playoffs when he did not have abysmal goaltending. I think they were last or next to last in goaltending during his tenure.

I think there has been a little too much secrecy about exactly what he's dealing with, why it's taken so long to make a decision on the best way to go forward and how we literally went from day to day in October to out for the season with no clarity whatsoever.

Only a matter of time before Clarke "attacks" Ellis with a smear campaign. ........

They had 11 fewer points than any other team. One of the most maddening chapters in franchise history. Then to have Kane score that OT cup winner was just sulfuric acid in the wound.

That fascinating and unfortunate series of events will forever elicit a sad chuckle from me.

He should train with the guy LeTang trains with. Have you seen those workouts on youtube? They will whip anyone into shape. (Travis S should also do these).
- iamscore2day

Yea, train with an often injured guy. Smart.

It encapsulates what this franchise has been through for the last 45 years. Near misses, would coulda shoulda's. Just beyond frustrating to be a Flyers fan. That's why I'm happy I adopted another team to root for. Go Thrashers!!!

I'd be all for a guy like Adam Foote, who steered Kelowna to a great record. Or Luke Richardson, who always seems to be in rumors but never got a head coaching gig. Plus he's got the ex-Flyers thing going for him.
- TobyFlenderson

I think Jay Woodcroft would have been a good fit for his track record for developing young players. There are so many good out of the box choices. Gronborg, Kirk Muller, Pascal Vincent, Spencer Carbury, Kris Knoblauch, Jay Leach and Rocky Thompson. If they go the recycle route, I think Maurice is a better choice than Torts. Both funny and quotable but Maurice comes without the drama. Maurice gets things going in the right direction.

You must be thinking (big leap here) about a different player. Letang's injury history is pretty good and he is 35 and playing like an animal.

Thanks for your response. Is it reasonable to read into it NOT being JUST an issue with the injury?
- Dkos

I would say no, it's not reasonable at this point.

Always “battling an injury” and has missed his share of games over his career

Once the season is over on Sunday they are going to have to give some real details on what the injury was.

Training camp starts in less than five months.

I’m starting to think they really just don’t know what’s going on with the guy

It's either something along those lines where they don't know specifically what the issue is so they don't know how to treat it. Or it's something degenerative where getting surgery could mean that he might not be able to play any longer.

He has played a lot of games in the last 5 years and is physical so will have injuries but still plays. Did have a couple of years with injuries back a few years but averaging 70 games a season since 2008 does not suggest a problem with injuries. It would not hurt the Flyers for Brink and Sanheim to train like he does in his offseason.

In 15-16 they had the 5th equal best team SV%.

That was one of the two seasons Hak made the playoffs.

Yup, hey if we get out of that contract we might actually win the trade haha.

I'd hope Sanheim and Provy keep doing whatever it is they have been doing their whole careers to avoid injury.

They won't get out of it. He could go on LTIR for five years, but that's far from ideal.

That's good I suppose. I haven't watched much of the Flyers recently. Pop in from time to time but never a complete 60.

Sanheim is never going to be overly physical either, it’s just not his game. Anyone expecting him to do so needs to adjust their eyes. That’s not how he’s effective

Knoblauch would be funny since it was Fletcher that gave him his walking papers from the asst coach spot he had here for awhile.

I'd be cool with Muller too. Anyone that has worked with Sutter is fine by me.

Th young players regressed under AV, not Hak
- THE BLACK HAND

I was going to add that you could say Provorov and Ghost had their best seasons under Hak. Sanheim has taken off after AV got fired.

only person in the world with this type of "injury". He has been sent to Calcutta and Katmandu for remedies. He has spoken to the lady with the 3rd eye. He has visited the tree of woe.

It is beyond ridiculous at this point. Whatever it is they full well know what the issue is at this time.
