You could say that about Murphy, McCabe and deHaan. Probably the worst top 4 D in the league. - LAHawk
Has anyone noticed Rockford D-Men who appear to be average at best in the "A" look as good or better than our NHL D-Men when called up? That tells you how good our NHL D-Men are.

Out of that list, I like King the best. - powerenforcer
King at least says the right stuff in interviews in terms of how he works with players and all that jazz.
I can't imagine the Hawks would have him out on the press tour if they weren't trying to pad that extension.
Ummmm, that being said I guess they could do worse. They maybe could do better. Hopefully they do a decent job interviewing people and go from there. Would be fun if they considered a female head coach. |

This week's summer trade proposal involving Kane, assuming he waives.
Boston is getting long in the tooth and Pastrnak becomes an UFA after next season. Bruins decides to go all in next season by signing Bergeron to a one year 35+ contract and acquiring Kane as a rental.
I'm thinking Kane should be worth a #1 pick, prospect Fabian Lysell and defenseman Matt Grzelcyk who has 2 years remaining at 3.7M. Grzelcyk could hold the fort as a veteran D alongside some prospects allowing the Hawks to move McCabe/Murphy for other assets.
Boston would have to do some other off season moves to move salary to get this done.
Or would this be a better TDL move next Spring? - boilermaker100
Based on his comments to the press the last few days, it doesn't sound like Kane is going anywhere. Looks like he's going after Stan's record and retiring a Blackhawk. |

Not much to choose from. Maybe Tochett. Or an up and coming assistant. - boilermaker100
Don't remember where I saw this, but the supposed 'inside scoop' is that Tocchet is going to get the Blackhawk job.

Yes IMO there are few locations where he would waive. Most likely Eastern teams like NYR as you mentioned or back to his home town of Buffalo.
I put the odds of him staying at 90%-10% and the odds of him signing an extension with Chicago the same. I really think his goal is to surpass Mikita as all time franchise point leader. - boilermaker100
Based on his interviews, he hasn't returned to Buffalo during the Summers since that fateful one of 2015 and he calls Chicago "home" now. I don't sense he views Buffalo as a good environment for him. Time will tell, I guess. |

Didn't know that. Makes sense. Thought maybe he had a 2nd house there. I bet he isn't traded and signs at least a 3 year extension.

For those with the NHL tv package, a couple of good games tonight. CAR at NYR battle for 1st in the Metro currently on. 0-0 in the 1st.
Vegas at DAL to maybe determine the last Western wild card spot at 730 central. |

Could it be the Hawks rush a Dach and Bovquist, while the Islanders let Dobson and Wahlstrom marinate in the A until they are ready? - LAHawk
YES that's part of the problem. That's why they need some talent at the NHL level so the prospects can be properly marinated |

Tocchet would be better than what that have but I'd talk to him sooner rather than later. He is a former Flyer and Yeo will probably be out, so Tocchet would be a possibility there

Then imo they are not rebuilding but it is all up to him if he stays or goes. |

Well it's hard to do a serious rebuild if your star player doesn't want to waive his NMC to probably become the team's all time point leader, and wants his existing line mates (who happen to be valuable trade pieces themselves) to stay on board to help him reach that record. |

Agree if none of those 3 are traded then this not a rebuild. Can they do a rebuild with Kane dcat and strome on the team yes but it becomes extremely difficult and possibly take longer. Two out those 3 need to be traded. Otherwise hawks are stuck in a rudderless ship. |

Lots to cheer for here even if the Hawks aren't in it. Of course, Minny and the Oil to improve Hawks picks and then of course, it'll be fun to cheer for Keith and the Flower anyway. Hagel in TB too.
Keith is +13 (maybe +15, not sure if today's game was added to that) this year. Playing much better I assume without watching much due to lessened role and relaxed minutes. Was trying too hard and to do too much on the Hawks. I think the same is being done to Jones too. He's playing worse with more minutes. |

Dave Tippett was considered a defensive genius as a coach until he was in Edmonton. |

Regarding names of coaching candidates, how about Patrick Roy? I remember when he lit a fire under the Avs his first year there. Would be entertaining if he were here if nothing else. |

Regarding Kane's comments discussed above....
1. Did he mention Toews?
2. Interesting that he talks often with KD, and Toews suggested he hasn't. |

the problem with keeping kane, strome and Cat is they are not good def they are our 3 highest 5 vs 5 % goal scorers and they are still terrible in the +- Carpenter is better then cat +- teows is better then kane +- 1/3 of there PTS come on PP which are easy goals. with a good system anybody can get those pts and can get spread around. All those socring and PP stats just run up there PTs but have very little effect on winning and losing in comparison to 5 V 5. in all honesty paying Strome 5 mil, Cat and kane $9 makes no sense on a bad team. they have Dug such a huge hole wtih the Jones trade that im not sure it makes sense to keep them. Boquist and sillenger and our 1st this year. I think you could make the argument to keep them and get a top 5 this year and next and then start moving forward we are missing out on 2 top 6 forwards by the jones trade. means the rebuild lost 2 years.
