Isles have fired Barry Trotz, for some reason. Has a connection with Fitz. I'm sure if they're looking for a head coach he's someone they're going to interview, or atleast should interview. Definitely concerns with him, but if he's willing to be adaptable and willing to 'coach the players he has' then he could be a good fit. But if he's going to coach us how he coached the Isles then it's a hard pass for me, no shot I want to watch McLeod and Bastian play 15+ minutes every single game.

If I had to guess, I'd think he ends up in Vegas or Winnipeg.

Exactly one of the reasons why I wouldnt want him lol. Seems like he completely limited Barzals ceiling and wasnt willing to change. He has also never really been good with young players(Vrana/Burakovsky in Wsh, his handling of Wahlstrom this year, ect). I see everybody posting about how the Devils must hire him asap and i just dont see it. Its bad fit with the outlook of this team, unless he's willing to be adaptable and coach to the strengths of this team.

If hes willing to play a more high-event off the rush style, and still try to implement his defensive structure then sure. But I'm not sure he's going to be willing to do that.

It's crazy that Lou fired Trotz especially how he crafted that roster around him. I really think the Islanders crumble was because of the super long road trip and covid/injuries sinking them. But part of that is signing tons of aging vets so you're going to get into injury problems.

Also, don't want Trotz either because our roster is not built for his system whatsoever.

Never too soon to start checking out the 2023 draft class.

Kinda don't want to win the 2nd overall pick tonight, because knowing Fitz he'll take Slafkovsky or Jiricek over Cooley. Which would be a mistake. Almost as bad, or possibly worse than taking Holtz over Rossi or Perfetti. So I'm hoping for #1 or staying put at 5/6.
