Yes, the cap does present an obstacle. I see him as a $6m player, plus or minus. If we can't get him for that, we have to get an asset for him or that will be it's own obstacle to success. - micah555

Best to trade Miller. - manvanfan
Absolutely. That would send the perfect message to an already fragile dressing room.
Allvin entering the room:
'Hey guys just so you know Miller had a 100 point season but we are going to move him for short term assets and maybe bolster the D a bit. Plus he has a year left on his contract so we can't risk him having a poopty season next year and get nothing for him. Good luck next year guys'

Brock will be back. Look for Garland and/or Pearson to go. Maybe some bottom 6 forward shuffling for Cap issues but don't expect much this summer.

Sounds about right. this team already balled their eyes out when Toffoli wasn't re-signed, so more tears wouldn't surprise me.
Trading Miller means they care about the future of the team and not that Vantel has fun at a game. |

Yeah, I too think Brock is back on a team friendly contract. I agree about the lack of movement this summer. One or two minor changes to the roster but that’s it. |

lol gametime fun is another issue altogether. They need better tunes...
You move Miller if the team sputters next year but it's not likely. Even Boudreau said post game last night something special is happening here. He's excited about what's coming from Abbotsford and I would expect Boudreau back next season. The 56 game sample size shows what's capable under Boudreau even through all the injuries. If I was a season ticket holder and they gut this club on a Miller deal this summer I would be cancelling for sure. Boudreau said the fans should be excited for what's coming next year...not for a 'mini rebuild' this summer when we already have most of the pieces in place. Get a RH 3LC and a RH damn that can move up/down the pairings and see where it goes. They can shuffle a few players out here there for cap relief. Just enjoy man and be happy. This team is finally rounding into form.
the 14 games that Toffoli played here wasn't much to go on and he was injured for most of that excellent PO run. If we had re-signed TT the fanbase here would just continue to whine about him and Pearson not playing together in which Green was just pissing the media off with lol. I was one of the few that didn't care about bringing TT Edler or Tanev back. Or Markstrom. Markstrom was offered a very fair deal but he left for 2 more years term and and extra 500K after this club and Ian Clark saved his career over a 5 year span. So Marky can go (frank) himself as well.

Agree. Moving Miller this summer send completely the wrong message. Especially with what was accomplished in 56 games under Boudreau. Bring him back and let's get back to the PO's is the first step. |

Looks like the Seahawks will make a play for Mayfield with Carolina drafting Corral.
I think they were smart addressing the O-line & Edge.

My vision is a team that doesn't tread water year after year desperately trying to be the last wild card team that might squeak into the playoffs. |

Fair but we are moving past that point. Moving Miller this summer for potential assets that may take 2-4-6 years to pan out puts us exactly back in the position you are talking about. |

According to capfriendly, Canucks have a 16 person roster for next season and just under 12 million in capspace.
The team needs to re-sign or trade Boeser which will cost between 4-6.5 million, leaving 5.5-8 million in space to round out the roster.
Without any changes to the existing roster, the team will have no choice but to re-sign league minimum salaries.
Yes I am aware that Ferland will be on LTIR, for the 4th straight season. |

The good thing is there's lots of sports on this summer and world cup soccer in the fall.
Hopefully the unraveling they do this summer pays off, if not it's another year of mediocre hockey.

It could be a swap for current players. Apparently Pierre-Luc Dubois might be available.
I would trade Miller straight up for Dubois. |

As long as the team has a successful 25-42 games and provide some false hope, the fanbase will be happy. |

They almost made the playoffs, so a successful season.
Keep the team together and see what they can do next season, like maybe show up for the 1st period. |

Yup.
Need to make sure they are stretched right up to the cap maximum, as well. |
